Street Fighter (1994) — The stunt work was alright but ultimately pretty forgettable, although at least the late Raul Julia seemed to be having a blast as Bison and Ming-Na Wen as Chun-Li was cute. However, the goofiness was too much and was more cringe than funny. **¼/*****

Showtime Charlie Tahan from Wayward Pines and Gotham is now grown up. I feel old. It was a fun watch. |

This was pretty good and maybe a future star in Dylan Penn and maybe she got the acting scenes from Sean and Robin Wright. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Shadow of the Vampire. A fantasy where F.W. Murnau films Nosferatu using a real vampire. We watched it years ago. It was even better on a second viewing.

Currently watching: Silent Night, Deadly Night 3
It's so stupid it's making me want to stab my own eyes out. |

The Long Goodbye (1973) — Pretty good 1970s-era neo-noir drama almost entirely relies on the performance from Elliot Gould and the mystery element was well done, though the ending was somewhat predictable but satisfying. ***¾/*****

Nightlight (2015)
I love Found Footage films and this one came recommended years ago by a local Horror Website/Group that I used to write for. There are a small amount of interesting ideas but they are bogged down by sloppy execution, obnoxious characters and a razor-thin mythos. |

HBO Max Way too much James Corden and the only good time I was interested was when Cannavale was on the screen but pass on this |

I thought this was going to suck or be mediocre but I loved him probably since the 80's was the era of my youth. I don't think people fought each other back then for Nintendo but they did for Cabbage Patch dolls. I wish HBO would put it out on Blu-ray and it could become a new classic. |

The Jurassic Games (2018)
Elements of Battle Royale (2000), The Running Man (1987), Saw (2004) & Jurassic Park (1993) all blended in a decent B-Movie outing. Doesn't do much to set itself apart as a Genre film but it's decently acted & paced. Also considering the limited budget, I thought the FX work (and there is a lot) was better than expected. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
The Jurassic Dead (2017)
Bad acting, bad wigs, bad FX work. The sheer amount of bad Green Screen Backgrounds gave me a massive headache. Homages were incredibly random and not as slick as Writers Milko Davis & Michele Pacitto thought they were. All this film needed was more Zombie Dinosaurs and 10-times the amount of Andy Haman (Duque) punching said Zombie Dinosaurs in the face, to be more enjoyable. |

Casablanca - My first time watching this and I can see why it is considered one of the greatest films ever. Bogart is captivating as Rick, Bergman's Ilsa is beautiful and tragic, and the supporting characters are a colorful and memorable lot. I will definitely revisit this some day.

But those were the movies that also got theatrical releases and I think 8 Bit Xmas is a HBO Max exclusive |

Starz Maybe it another corny sports movie but I liked it. It is not as if Hollywood is flooding the market with these type of movies. I bet if this came out in the 90's and early 2000's it would have gotten a big theatrical release. Wilson did a great job as the coach. Spoiler:

Hack-O-Lantern (1988)
A silly Slasher/Satanic Panic film that is an absolute blast to watch if you are in the right mood. Characters (though thinly drawn) are always doing something, keeping the movie moving at a surprisingly good pace. Stay for the landslide of unintentionally hilarious moments, such as Tommy's (Gregory Scott) Music Video sequence and a random Stand-Up Comedy set. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Halloween Kills (2021)
Didn't care for it, though the ramped up gore was a bit of a surprise. Thought the idea of the town mobilizing was initially a very interesting idea but executed very poorly. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin (2021)
Enjoyed the film, though it was clear early on that this film was shoehorned into being a part of the Paranormal Activity franchise Not sure a reboot was necessary here and even then I'm not sure what this franchise is rebooting into with this 2021 entry. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Cruel Jaws: The Snyder Cut (1995)
This film is hilarious even by Director Bruno Mattei's schlock standards. It's best enjoyed with your favorite alcoholic beverage for maximum effect and laughter. Even as a Sharksploitation film, Mattei goes a bit further than mimicking plot & characters, "borrowing" footage from Jaws (1975) as well as its various sequels. It doesn't stop there. Mattei also lifts footage from his fellow countrymen via Enzo G. Castellari's The Last Shark (1981) & Joe D'Amato's Deep Blood (1989). The not-so-subtle use of John Williams' score from Star Wars (1977) is there as well. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Gaia (2021)
Outside some fantastic visuals and FX work (that seriously echo The Last of Us), this South African Eco-Terror/Body Horror film isn't all that interesting. Pacing is an large issue as is consistent tension. There's just not enough in the plot for its characters to chew on. |
