This is 19 years old wow.
It was like watching a new movie again since it has been awhile since I saw it.
Fiennes was scary and you dreaded every scene he did with Emily Watson.

Spirited Away - First time seeing this, and while I'm not as high up on it as many others, I thought it was a pretty terrific movie. The animation was incredible. The story was pretty good, and I liked how it walked a pretty fine line between a children's movie and an adult's movie. It is really suitable for all ages, aside from little, little ones (if I had any kids, I'd probably wait til they were at least 6 or 7 years old before I'd show them this). It's just a nice animated movie, and makes me want to watch a lot more Studio Ghibli stuff...

Starz
It was better than what I expected though they did a horrible job with the Bob Hope makeup on Greg Kinnear
I never knew Hope was so pervy

Sudden Impact - Clint's only "Dirty Harry" directorial effort has a couple too many side adventures before it fully settles into the Sondra Locke centered main plot. Still, by the end it gives you want you were expecting. (HBO Max)
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
Watch for veteran character actor Albert Popwell, -he's the bank robber in "Dirty Harry", the pimp in "Magnum Force", the head of the Black Radicals in "The Enforcer", and the guy who brings the special magnum to Harry in "Sudden Impact".

^^ That pimp in Magnum Force was memorable considering he only had two 2-minute scenes.
Kiss of the Damned (2012). A vampire movie in the style of those early 1970s European horror films. A beautiful vampire lady living in a mansion turns a beautiful young man into a vampire, and he is introduced to the elegant vampire society. But the lady has a destructive sister, a sexy vampire, who leaves a trail of wreckage everywhere she goes. The beginning of the movie was intriguing, and the ending was satisfying, but the middle sixty minutes dragged. I suspect that the target audience was the goth kids of the early 2000s who wanted to see beautiful vampires having lots of sex, drinking champagne all night, and staying young and pretty forever, an audience who wouldn't demand much more from a movie. For them, the movie delivered.

The Courier (2020) — Well made and suspense-filled historical-thriller with another great performance from Benedict Cumberbatch. Doesn't exactly have an emotional impact but still well worth checking out. ***¾/*****

Deadpool…think I’ve only seen it twice before tonight and last time awhile ago. I just saw 2, but decided to see the original. Still fun, still silly, still awesome. Forgot so much.

Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) — Second time seeing this, first on HBO Max now on 4K Ultra HD. Still fairly entertaining especially since the human element was much less a factor compared with Godzilla and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (Kong: Skull Island easily the best of the bunch). Has the same issues as a Transformers movie (or any CGI-heavy films) where the destruction looks off and doesn't have the weight to it, however it's an okay time-waster and I'm sure big fans of either will find something to love. ***½/*****

I watched Black Rain last night on HBO Max for the first time in about 20 years.
Solid movie still and it doesn’t feel dated at all. Douglas and Ken Takakura were really good together and had great chemistry. I think this is one of Ridley Scott’s most underrated movies and one of the best East meets West movies.
I had totally forgotten that the actor who played the villain Sato, Yusaku Matsuda, was terminally ill with cancer when making this movie and died shortly after it wrapped. Sad story.
And Kate Capshaw was smoking hot in this playing the American bar hostess. Her role was pretty small though.

Sophie Turner with those cut off shorts and slutty attire

A shame that dorky high schooler kid tapped that and McDermott the real man was left out.

I also watched the 2018 movie Forever my Girl on Hoopla yesterday.
Its a very Hallmark, Lifetime, Nicholas Sparks type movie. But this time no one is dying of cancer or is terminally ill. I wanted to see it as I like Jessica Rothe. It’s a pretty standard love story with the country music scene as the backdrop. Rothe is good and beautiful in this and the lead Alex Roe is charming and likable. Not a movie that many here would watch, but I found it entertaining.

Stephen King's Sleepwalkers Eureka BD Region B
Alice Krige. Directed by Mick Garris. 1992
A pair of incestuous Mother-Son shape-shifters come to a small town and wreak bloody havoc.
I saw this in the theater with a good friend of mine and when I reminded him of that recently, he couldn't remember it at all. As I described the film he reacted as if I must have drugged him and tied him to the theater seat. Maybe that's why it only made a buck-and-a-half.
"Sleepwalkers" is good gory fun from Director Mick Garris, who has a real handle on King films (he did a few over the years). You can tell that Mick truly enjoys the genre. Alice Krige gives a terrific performance and Madchen Amick brings a lot of charm. It's a really good package with some solid extras.

Speed Disney 4K UHD
Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock. Directed by Jan de Bont. 1994
L.A.P.D. SWAT team Specialist is sent to defuse a bomb on a bus. But until he does, he and a passenger must keep the bus at more than 50 mph -- or the bomb will explode.
I hadn't watched "Speed" in quite a few years, and it holds up really nicely. Because this was produced by Disney, for whom "Just Good Enough" is "Good Enough", I'm not sure if this is the best it could look in 4K, but it does look nice.

Last night I watched Crisis (2021) on Hoopla
It's an Indie movie that takes the Traffic approach and deals with the Opioid crisis and tells 3 stories that are eventually connected.
Has a really good cast. I'm surprised they assembled this kind of talent for a small movie. It's decent. Aside from some F bombs and a few brief gun fights, it's very TV movie of the week like and very talky.

Captain Marvel - The next Marvel. This was actually the first time I had watched this one at home (MA)
The Hitman's Bodyguard - I had never seen this before, but I had picked a cheap used 4K disc a few years ago. It's not without it's moments, but after awhile it was all just a little too much. (4K UHD)
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - I've liked some of Ritchie's previous work. I like the stars. I like the vibe. But I've watched this movie a few times now, and it's all just....meh. (MA)

Siberia (2020) — I know Abel Ferrara has his fans, and truthfully I'm not overly familiar with his work as this is my first film of his I've seen, but this film is completely symbolic and outside of a few beautiful landscape shots, I found this pretty dull, though thankfully it's only 85-minutes long, however there were times I zoned out. I'll give some credit to Dafoe (and his sixth collaboration with Ferrara), but this was not my kind of film. Personally, I'd rather watch a movie about Dafoe bar tending in Siberia encountering an odd crop of characters... *½/*****

Dafoe is in that so I added it to my Netflix que. Sucks no blu-ray.

Maybe it gets kind of slow in some parts but overall it was not bad though if you hate reading subtitles that might turn you off.

Crazy Larry, Dirty Mary (1974). Pretty people drive fast cars, and outwit the police. The movie starts with a heist, and a sexy girl insists in being taken along in the getaway car. Then they drive fast. Lots of scenes of police cars crashing, all of which end with an unhurt police officer. The acting is sub par, despite having Peter Fonda and Susan George. Interesting locations -- America doesn't look like this anymore. The helicopter stunts are amazing. (Part one of a double feature disk from Shout!)
