Seized (2020) — Passable, if not also forgettable, action-thriller with Scott Adkins holding his own and some of the stunt work wasn't half-bad. Wasn't fully buying Mario Van Peebles as the head of a drug cartel or his fake Spanish accent. Likely I won't remember this a day from now but being only 80-minutes, not a bad way to pass the time. **¾/*****

it had some laughs but mostly forgettable and Lapkus was irritating.
I was expecting a Holyfield cameo

Not one of Ayer's best works.
It was not horrible but not a classic like Harsh Times, Training Day, and End of Watch the other films he did.
It was hard to buy Shia as a bad ass tough guy.

Peppermint - A re-watch that I started a couple of weeks ago. Not a great film, but I am a sucker for Garner and for revenge flicks so I found it just as watchable the second time around. Still not sure why they decided to kill Michael Mosley's lawyer character off screen though. In fact, I didn't even catch the dialogue that she had killed him the night before the first time I watched it so I kept waiting for him to show up.

Into the Forest (2016) - Thought Page and ERW were good for the most part, but the movie got sillier as it went along.

Guinea Pig: Devil's Experiment (1985)
Though it is commonly overshadowed by the infamous film that followed it, the first entry in the Japanese Series is still effective.
There are a few decisions that pull the curtain off of the film's approach but it's still a grueling 43-minutes.

Guinea Pig 2: Flower of Flesh & Blood (1985)
The infamous film that still has Horror & Exploitation junkies talking about 35-years after its initial release.
This was the first film in the series that was based on the Manga work of Hideshi Hiro (who also directed the film).
Its 42-minute run-time feels fairly breezy and is chock full of gore. It's obviously the film's centerpiece, featuring some fantastic practical FX work during most of its run-time.

Split Second MVD Rewind Edition Blu-Ray
Rutger Hauer. Directed by Tony Maylam. 1992
In a futuristic London, the rising sea levels mean that large areas are under feet of water. Hauer plays a cop who previously lost his partner to some strange creature. Now the creature is back and is after him.
Rutger Hauer in a mash-up up "Lethal Weapon", "Manhunter", and "Predator" (just to name as few), but it's also borrows from Titan comics and Judge Dredd. I remembered it fondly from when it first popped up on Cinemax back in the day, but it didn't quite work for me the same way this time. The transfer is regrettably soft and really needed a boost, though they may have just jammed too many additional features onto the disk. That being said, the commentary track is terrific and really sells the film.

Past few days we watched The Hobbit Trilogy. Still enjoy them but they feel kinda hollow compared to The Lord Of The Rings (1: 4/5) (2: 4/5) (3: 3/5)
Dazed And Confused. It had its moments but overall it didnt live up to the hype. Maybe if i was around in the 70s/80s i could have identified with some of it more but it was fun to see some of the cast before they got real famous. 2.5/5

The 13th Warrior - Guilty pleasure that I re-watch every few years. Of course, there will always be the lingering curiosity of what Eaters of the Dead would have been.

Kiss of the Vampire Shout! Collector's Edition
Edward de Souza. Directed by Don Sharp. 1963
Gerald and Marianne Harcourt are a honeymooning couple in early 20th-century Bavaria who become caught up in a vampire cult led by Dr. Ravna and his two children Carl and Sabena.
I've always had a fondness for the Hammer/Universal co-productions, since they were included in the movie packages sold to local stations back when there were five TV channels and all the locals had daily Afternoon movies or Late Night movies. I watched these multiple times, never realizing that Universal filmed extra material on their backlot to fill in the running times.
This is one of the better "non-Dracula" Vampire films from Hammer. However, since it's from 1962 it's probably too sedate and British for most Horror audiences. Also, -rubber bats on strings! Nice package from Shout!, though.

I connect to some of Linklater's films in an odd way, -I was in high school during the period in "Dazed", but I wasn't like those kids depicted, -I wasn't in that group. However, I knew that group and it rang true for me. While "Boyhood" is not like my life, it very much parallels the life my sister lived with her family, and I imagine my nephews would identify with it (or should, at any rate).

This was horrible except for hearing a early 90's classic from Ice Cube

Maybe it was entertaining back in 1999 but this is kind of cheesy and Arquette in the train scene was unintentionally funny.
Not her best work.

Kyle Mooney probably did his best work ever in this movie. A underrated comedy/drama from one of the Lonely Island guys.
Mark Hamill was one twisted fuck in this movie

Kinnear was great in his scenes.
I wish more people saw this. Glad I own it on Blu-ray.

The Wedding Ringer - Contrary to the popular internet opinion, I like Josh Gad. I also still like Titanic and Forest Gump. As for the movie, I still thought it was funny on the re-watch.

Behind The Mask: The Batman Dead End Story Crackle
Feature-length documentary about Sandy Collera, a designer and model-maker who worked for Stan Winston among others. Back in 2003 he made the 8-minute short "Batman: Dead End", which got a lot of acclaim and served as a calling card to the majors. Things didn't go quite as he planned, much of it by his own doing. "Dead End" was terrific (it's not shown in full) and the story of making it is quite interesting. Collera is frank about his failings, though some of it is humble-brag and he is never really clear on how he's currently making a living (this is from 2015, I learned later). It turns out he's the producer of the documentary, telling his own story (another calling card, I suppose), and it left me somewhat ambivalent about the whole thing.

King Kong (1976) - I was too young to see this in the theaters, but I did see it a few years later on TV. I had nightmares for months. While it's not very good, it's still the movie I think of first when you say King Kong.
