I watched Before I Fall tonight and I enjoyed it. Groundhog Day is one of my all-time favorite movies and this is essentially a teen version of it with a female lead. Zoey Deutch is really good in this. I keep waiting for her to break out, but she just hasn't gotten the right movie yet. 3.5/5

I watched Clerks today for the first time ever. I liked it, but it is a little ridiculous. I also watched the original ending to it that was cut and was quite shocked by it.

Spider-Man: Homecoming. I suspect that this is the type of Spider-Man film tons of folks were hoping to have been treated to when it was rebooted the first time around.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Caught a late matinee today. A really good time. This is the movie that should have been made when Sony decided to use Andrew Garfield instead. Tom Holland was a fantastic Parker/Spidey. Great casting. Fun with lots of humor.

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

Spider-Man: Homecoming...what a totally fun and enjoyable movie viewing experience. just fun all the way around. probably the most fun movie in the MCU. for kids and adults alike. everyone was having a blast. Holland, Keaton were just great, as was RDJ, of course. liked the twist. great direction, action, the cameos, the Captain America stuff was priceless, especially the detention one. loved they played the theme song in the opening Marvel logo scroll. just a rollicking good time at the movies. the only groan i had was the reveal of MJ. that just seemed so stupid considering the character in this movie.

a solid:

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

The Lego Batman Movie...looks amazing in 3D. Watching this now and the depth and effects are marvelous. Really good stuff. That narration of Batman during Logos had me smiling. Just meant to say looks really good in format and what a hoot of a movie. I'm like grinning ear to ear through this thing. Will Arnett is so perfect. Not sure I'm loving Zach as Joker, but still solid casting all around.

A solid:

Joyful Noise - Netflix. The film does not present a particularly unique spin on the underdog makes it to the final competition and wins the big prize genre of films, but it has a fantastic cast, and the music set pieces are really well done.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003) — 2.25/5

The opening wasn't bad, nor was Jolie's "outfit", the rest was utterly boring.

I watched Vacation (2015) this afternoon and it actually has a few funny moments in it, but they are heavily outweighed by stupid and unfunny moments. 2/5

I also watched Almost Christmas this afternoon. It was a decent Christmas movie. I moved to area recently that still has video rental stores and I rented it and Vacation 2 for $1. It was better than Vacation. 3/5

Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread

All of these I watched on a 7+ hr plane ride from Scotland back to the US.

Kong: Skull Island Pretty good. Trying to figure out who Brie Larson reminds me of.
Fist Fight Pretty bland and stupid. Glad I saw it free on the plane vs. renting it.
Keeping Up With The Joneses Had rented this before and really didn't think much of it. Maybe it was the extreme boredom of being on the plane but I enjoyed it more this time.
Masterminds same as above.
