Sing (3D)...fun. very cute. not a lot of depth or heart, like say in a Disney movie. very formulaic and predictable. i like original songs more, but these pop songs of a couple to few years ago (which kinda dated the movie, even though it's a 2017) worked for the most part. liked the characters and great singing voices whoever they were. 3D was nice and showed a lot of depth. not a lot of pop out effect, though a few shots were incredible (the giraffe head to name one). very nice overall presentation. Recommended.

I Am Not A Serial Killer - pretty good and very different from what I thought it was going to be. The Netflix description avoids giving away a big plot element.

Yep, he and De Vito were excellent (and you can never go wrong with Delroy Lindo).

I know Hackman did a few more roles after this, but wish this was his last, would've been a great way to go out. Of course anything would be better than Welcome to Mooseport.

Think I need to watch The Spanish Prisoner soon as well, been a few years.

Teen Witch...so great, such cheese. And those musical numbers? so fun. Always had a crush on Lively and still do after those new interviews. What a great set that I had no idea was on the radar.

Just saw TSP again not too long ago. Just great. Martin was great and so different a role for him. I just saw RedBelt as well and can't wait to revisit Glengarry Glen Ross and Spartan, which is probably my favorite. Love his dialogue...

Donnie Darko (2001)

Got to see the 4K Restoration of the Theatrical Cut with Director Richard Kelly in attendance! He did a Q&A afterwards.

This one felt like a late night movie from the 90s, which I really dug.

The Frame - from the writer/director of Ink. I wanted to like this more, but it's a bit too self-aware--both literally and figuratively. It felt like what should have been a 10 minute student film got stretched out to 2 hours.

McCabe & Mrs. Miller - 4/5

Robert Altman's revisionist western about a man who decides to make a few bucks by opening a brothel and eventually becomes the target of a mining corporation when he refuses to sell his land. Altman as usual, takes a genre and gives us his own unique interpretation. With it's social critique and wintery landscapes it reminded me in some ways of another great western, Sergio Corbucci's The Great Silence.

Ken Park - 3.5/5

From Larry Clark comes another disturbing look at daily lives of dysfunctional youth and the dysfunctional adults that shape them. Based on stories by Clark and a screenplay by Harmony Korine, Ken Park certainly doesn't hold back and those who are easily offended should stay away.

Obsession - 4/5

Sixteen years after the death of his wife and daughter, an American land developer meets a woman in Italy who looks exactly like his late wife. While not as good as the original, Brian De Palma's stylish homage to Vertigo in still a good psychological thriller in its own right with some good performances and an excellent score by the great Bernard Herrmann.

The Last Witch Hunter - HBO. For a one star film I actually thought it was pretty entertaining. Some of the visuals were stunning.

Blue Collar - 4.5/5

The directing debut of the man who wrote Taxi Driver and an excellent one it is. Three friends employed by a Detroit automobile plant who are overworked, underpaid, and living paycheck to paycheck, decide to get back at their crooked union who they feel never looks out for their best interests. IMO this is one of the best American films of the 70's, right up there with The Conversation, Chinatown, Network, etc... Hollywood doesn't have the balls to make movies like this anymore.

I remember seeing that movie on HBO back in the early 80's. Remember it was pretty interesting. I wonder if Paul and Leonard are my cousins somehow? Same last name.
