Nerve (2016) - I was surprisingly pretty entertained by this movie, and a semi-believable use of botnets for a change (you can poke a lot of holes into the movie, so yeah, don't)

I watched The Man from U.N.C.L.E. last night and I liked it. I thought it was a fun two hours. 3.5/5

DR Strange Still thinking about this one. It was entertaining but very trippy, like a bad acid trip. Alternate universes and Inception like landscapes with no up or down make things very jarring at times.

Doctor Strange (IMAX 3D)...This was very enjoyable. Unique in visuals, somewhat derivative storytelling. You know we've seen these origin stories before, but this was unique and very well done. All the actors played their parts well. Much more humor then I expected, very welcome. Just worked on many levels. Not very impressed with the IMAX 3D, a lot of depth, some cool in your face effects, but not very often. Very well done movie.

Bigger Than Life - 3.5/5
After being diagnosed with a medical condition, a schoolteacher's behavior becomes highly erratic when he abuses the medication he is being treated with.
Another subversive film about 1950 suburbia's dirty little secrets from the man who gave us Rebel Without a Cause.

Mr. Church...this was not a good movie. Not well done at all. Maudlin, then falsely sentimental. Very disappointing.

Star Trek Into Darkness (3D)...absolutely stunning. A thrilling and near perfect chapter in the series. For some reason liked it more the second time around. Was riveted. 3D looked spectacular as well. Only nitpick is the ill received Spock yelling of Khan, but totally forgivable. I was hooked.

Elle - Great lead performance, movie is definitely structured more like a novel than a typical movie, the synopsis of it being a "rape thriller" misses the point. That said, it definitely was not something I've seen a hundred times prior. In Verhoeven land, this is more Black Book than Showgirls.
