Pound of Flesh (2015) starring JCVD Watched it last night on DVD. Not bad for a low budget straight to video flick. Good action, but ridiculous plot. JCVD goes to the Philippines (actually shot in China) to help donate one of kidneys for his dying niece. But, after an evening fling with a stranger, he wakes up with his kidney stolen. So he and his brother go around Manila kicking ass to find the kidney thief. |

Elimination Game (2015) Starring Dominic Purcell from Prison Break. Australian-shot movie set in the United States. Basically a low budget The Most Dangerous game meets The Running Man. It's Lincoln Burrows vs. Sheriff Longmire. Robert Taylor from Longmire also stars in this. Viva Bianca from Spartacus is also in it. Doesn't look as hot as she did on Spartacus. Horrible movie with some terrible acting. Besides Purcell, who is decent, and Taylor, the supporting cast is God awful. There is also a brief apperance by Nicholas Hammond who played Spiderman in the 1970's TV series. |

Simon Killer - 4.5/5
After ending a five year relationship, a young man goes to Paris in order to clear his mind. While there he connects with another lonely soul who is a prostitute. As their relationship develops we slowly start to realize that our delicate protagonist is not who we think he is. Excellent well made dark psychological drama with an Oscar caliber performance from Brady Corbett. |

Ida - 4.5/5
In the early 60's, a young Polish woman who was raised in an orphanage and is about to become a nun discovers that she has a living relative who wants to see her before she takes her vows. Excellent film about people coping with the after-effects of WWII and the rise of communism in Poland. The digital black & white compositions that set the tone of the film are breathtaking. |

The French Connection II - 2/5
James 'Popeye' Doyle goes to France on a mission to track down heroin kingpin Alain Charnier. Unnecessary sequel that pales in every aspect when compared to William Friedkin's original. |

Dark Skies - Alien thriller with Keri Russell. Not a bad movie, as long as you don't get too caught up in the stupid choices the adults make towards the end.

Interior. Leather Bar. - 3/5
A movie about the making of a movie that tries to recreate the explicit lost footage of William Friedkin's Cruising. An interesting experiment on straight perceptions of gay men. |

Exam - 2.5/5
Eight applicants reach the final stage for a position in a prestigious corporation. They have 80 minutes to answer one question but the key is figuring out what the question is in addition to the answer. An interesting premise with a disappointing payoff. |

Street Kings - 3.5/5
Very formulaic but a very strong performance by Reeves. |
Re: Last Movie You Watched Thread
It Follows...pretty decent little suspense/thriller/horror hybrid. very unsettling and good use of music. very The Entity-ish.

The Mind of Mark DeFriest on Showtime Maybe it does not count since it is a documentary. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ipObSiFHpyY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SkqrhztseJs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

White Bird in a Blizzard - 3.5/5
The mysterious disappearance of a dysfunctional suburban housewife and the impact it has on her promiscuous 17 year old daughter. Good film from Gregg Araki with some nice scenery chewing from Eva Green and one hell of a soundtrack. |

Spring - 2.5/5
Rent this from Netflix. Very strange horror/romance film that I have never heard before. Start slow and pick up in the middle but was disappointed pretty much in the end. Good performance by Lou Taylor Pucci and Nadia Hilker who kinda pretty hot. |

^ There is an interview on AVClub with the directors ( http://www.avclub.com/article/direct...klater--216957 ) that kind of explains what they were going for with it.
