Re: Disney's Frozen - (11/27/13)
I almost forgot the part where Kristoff said to the Snow Queen's sister (forget her name) that she didn't even know if her new fiance picked his nose and ate his boogers. Then he muttered that "all men do." Seriously??? I noticed the film was written by a woman. I feel sorry for her if all the men in her life actually do that.

To quote the movie... "Let it go."

"Excuse me, Sir! He is a Prince." (Arms folded. Case closed.)
Prince stereotype subverted. Loner's lonesomeness re-established. Playful banter begun. Joke made, followed up on and then hammered into the stratosphere with the credit crawl caveat.

This past weekend, as the movie's domestic total hit $317.7 million, "Frozen" surpassed "The Lion King" to become the highest grossing Disney-produced animated film of all time, not accounting for inflation or re-releases.
World-wide, "Frozen" has now collected $712.3 million and has yet to open in a few major markets, including China.

Sunday, it won a Golden Globe award for best animated feature, helping make it a favorite for an Oscar.
As Ms. Wedde can attest, the movie's popularity has also driven successful spin-offs that are often the real drivers of profitability for a Disney franchise. Her daughter owns dresses for both of the movie's princess heroines, as well as the soundtrack album.
"We listen to the soundtrack every single day, multiple times a day," said the married mother of two in Bethel Park, Pa.
In early January, "Frozen" was No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album-sales chart, only the fourth animated film soundtrack in the chart's 58-year history to claim the top spot.

As I walked out of the theater after seeing Disney’s animated musical Frozen for the first time in November, the first thing I said was, “I can’t wait to see the Broadway version of this in 10 years.”
I may not have to wait that long. Disney CEO Robert Iger told Fortune the company is “in discussions to develop a show” (Fortune’s paraphrase). “We’re not demanding speed, we’re demanding excellence,” said Iger, which suggests aspiring snow queens should not expect to line up at open casting calls anytime soon. That said, it’s clear Disney is not waiting around to make sure Frozen becomes a perennial classic like The Lion King or The Little Mermaid — it’s planning to move the franchise to Broadway while it’s still hot. This is a great idea. Here’s why

How big is frozen? Big enough that there are a ton of reprises/covers/parodies of the songs on the net.
Here the Frozen Composers talk about some of their favorite:

Was not expecting the first variation at all, or the horror mix. Holy shit that one works well.

being the parent of a 3 year old girl, i knew this was going to happen. the push by disney and its princess characters are at an all time high. So disney did the calculated move to make a movie involving more princesses and release it while they have the kids interest... and bam....
from Sophia the First to Princess Ana... Disney is smart

400 million and they couldn't design a level for them in Disney Infinity? Bah.
