Disney's Frozen - (11/27/13)

Plot:

When Anna (Bell) is cursed by her estranged sister, the cold-hearted Snow Queen Elsa (Menzel), Anna’s only hope of reversing the curse is to survive a perilous but thrilling journey across an icy and unforgiving landscape. Joined by a rugged, thrill-seeking outdoorsman Kristoff, his one-antlered reindeer and a hapless snowman, Anna must race against time, conquer the elements and battle an army of frozen sinister warriors if she ever hopes to melt her frozen heart.

Sounds formulaic for a Disney movie. Kristen Bell is attached, and the director of Wreck It Ralph will co-direct.

I know it's perfectly normal, but 11/27/13 is one of the oddest looking dates I think I've ever seen.

Ah, that really original looking Show Queen concept that they turned into some cheap ripoff of Tangled. I'd thought it had been cancelled.

Who's Menzel?

Posters:

Spoiler:

Some are already complaining that the characters look like the characters from Tangled. The character models (particularly the first) do look similar to Rapunzel and Mother Gothel from Tangled but neither is identical. I think they simply employed the same artists and/or character designers for this one. Similarities were bound to appear.

The characters look pretty generic to me. Not a big deal, but kind of a bummer.

Finally... a cross eyed princess. Best they cover all the bases with their princess line.

Being stranded on a ski lift seems like an odd choice for an animated film, but I'll see where they go with it.

I knew the new title sounded familiar.

Didn't show enough to give a good idea how the movie looks. Some unfinished animation.

Wow.

I feel like we need a new word to describe how bad that looked.

Even more so when you remember what this project was originally conceived as.

Re: Disney's Frozen - (11/27/13)

Definitely in the tradition of Tangled. Fairy tale gets re-imagined with quirky characters .

Re: Disney's Frozen - (11/27/13)

I like it. It's basically a sitcom movie set in a fantasy world. I for one loved Tangled.

I really liked Tangled, but this looks more slap sticky then I expected. I'll probably still end up watching it, but my hopes aren't high.

Re: Disney's Frozen - (11/27/13)

I loved Tangled and this looks like a spiritual successor. Snowman character aside (looks to be quite annoying), I'm down. However I really hate how human CG characters have become so homogenized.

Re: Disney's Frozen - (11/27/13)

Loved Tangled, and I was hoping for something similar here, but this isn't looking too encouraging. Maybe the trailer's tone is misleading, or they decided to just show the weakest jokes...
