So as some of you know, I'm still going to school. I already have a Bachelor's in Radio, Television, and Film. Emphasis on film. And...well for a
38-40 page paper in my grad class for next semester...my Science Fiction film prof wanted me to choose a topic or have somebody else to choose our research topic and have some type of evidence that they really chose it, for 5 extra points. This part is essentially proven to her by audio conversation, email response, video, or...you type of fucks. I'm a cheap bastard so I'll go w/ the 5 points for being lazy. This whole thing horrifies me. Not so much that someone else has to choose it but that I'm writing a fucking huge ass paper that's more than my preferred 5 pages, FUCK. Thankfully it's double spaced...somehow this makes it better for me...but I'm a bitch and that still freaks me out. I like Science Fiction fine, but not enough to be confident in writing about it in a research paper. I personally wouldn't know where the fuck to begin on that thing. ANYWAY...the topic is in the science fiction genre and my prof recommends me to do something about women in Science Fiction. So women and Science Fiction. The topic itself needs to be somewhat contained but not too big that a 10 page rough cut of the whole thing's exposition doesn't make sense. I'm not sure how that works out..but whatever. Go motherfuckers. I'm sure she'll be entertained by how fucking odd you fucks are w/ the possible responses...you fucks. |

Any chance of getting this lady to join our forums and see where you spend your free time?

In Japanese anime, if a woman expresses sexual attraction to a man, she always turns out to be a witch or a vampire or a demon. A generation of teenage boys were taught that if a girl is confident in her sexuality, she will eat your soul. Fortunately the boys were also taught a defense against women: multiple-penetration alien tentacle rape. |

Re: Choose Solid Snake PAC's Science Fiction research paper topic!
In all seriousness, you should do a paper on how Science Fiction movies/TV has led the way in offering strong roles/portrayals of women...Alien, Termintor, Buffy, etc. Heck, you can even start all the way back with Star Trek - one of the first African American female roles on TV that wasn't a maid or a housekeeper.

Re: Choose Solid Snake PAC's Science Fiction research paper topic!
This thread is fascinating ... I don't know that it is delivering the goods yet, but it is fascinating. Your instructor is lurking on here, gave you permission to post her photo (which infers she has been lurking on here for quite some time), and knowingly sends you here for ideas for a graduate-level research project?! -popcorn-
That said ... does it have to be on women IN science-fiction? What about a look at female directors in science fiction? Do they present a different perspective? Different themes? Different views of characters/sexual stereotypes/etc.? Tell you what ... If you'll design my action research project (in organizational behavior), I'll write your paper. PS -- We need a post from your instructor. |

Oh, you sweet talker you.
I decided that the space monsters need the hormones released during human women's orgasms in order to reproduce, so the space monsters must be stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system in some way that the poor women have massive involuntary orgasms. With the proper hormone balance, the alien spawn can mature inside the woman's body. The chest bursting comes at maturity. |

So what topic did you go with? Now that I think about it, you could write a paper specifically on Ripley from the Alien series. She's a pretty watershed character for the portrayal of women in sci-fi.

Re: Choose Solid Snake PAC's Science Fiction research paper topic!
Snake writing about women seems utterly hilarious.

So Snake, your professor knows you're homeless? Great poll, BTW. |

In comparison to that wonderfully naive and well meaning girl who buys me a (99.9% sure it's fake) TDK script w/ multiple signatures. It's pretty funny that I'm writing this paper. So yes, I can see the hilarity. |

Yeah, it was decided that I do a paper on Ripley (character, evolution, etc). We had to argue about it though. I was very against it cuz it seemed too predictable of a paper. And I've actually encountered several of them in my time here. And they just screamed fanboy bs as I've read them. Granted that was in the starter analysis class.
You really like her don't you? Not really. Women are still dominantly 2nd class citizens in a lot of films. They may not be portrayed that way but look at strength and intelligence of a lot of female film characters as a quantity, and then look at the quality of those films as well. Still pretty damn low. So yes, I can see the hilarity. I like alternative/rockabilly broads. As long as they're not all fat and spilling over the sides. I like some proper thickness. |

Sadly she's more on the thin side. Not a stick but w/ some minor curves that one can respect. She rocks the look, so good on her. |
Re: Choose Solid Snake PAC's Science Fiction research paper topic!
I'm envisioning PAC saving this paper on a flash drive that he takes to all the college girls' dorms and writing it on their computers while they sleep.
