^ It was actually Neil Scanlan's company that created BB-8. The two guys in that video mentioned they had nothing to do with it. It sounds like their main duty was making the regular astromech droids.

You're right. It seems like a colossal waste of time to me.

You're correct. Thanks for the clarification.

What isn't though? So much of what we do is a waste time. Hell, even having children are a waste of time considering that the exceptional ones are so little in quantity.

Movies, art, music, etc etc. Are all wastes of time considering they're wants instead of needs. So at what point does one quit the unneeded for the stuff we need? We don't. We're fat fucks of consumption. We want it all. We want to survive but also jerk off to porn in our spare time.

Humanity is possibly the greatest waste of life on this world considering we destroy more than create. Shit. We destroy to create want.

So we're pretty much all a waste of time, man.

Posting on DVDTalk is a waste of time... Watching a movie is a waste of time...

So why are you posting on a movie forum? That's a colossal waste of time.

Anything that is recreational and not productive is technically a waste of time.

Every time JJ Abrams or Kathleen Kennedy mention or show pics of real sets and practical FX George Lucas dies a little inside.

FWIW, a lot of those droid builder and cosplay groups (like the 501st) show up at various events to raise money for charity. A lot of good can come from geek ingenuity.

Eh... not really. Kinda looks like a cross between a bull and a catfish.

Haven't we seen more of that species as well?

Don't they all have the same basic look, in terms of physical architecture?

Doesn't look look like that race to me me. I can see how you can think that but I don't think so. Head is massive compared to that race.

Yeah I sort of felt like the video from SDCC sort of had a bit of an underlying screw you to Lucas in all honesty. The way it emphasized how they're using real sets and practical effects and pretty much did everything it could to say this isn't going to be like the Prequel Trilogy.

I wonder how hard Lucas will take all this. SW was really his big fish and for someone to take it and do something more connected to the first 2 movies rather than the last few must rankle him a bit. But then again who cares what a bunch of internet whingers are whinging about anyway?

I'm sure he mostly doesn't care as he's loaded beyond his wildest dreams. The only thing that may hurt a bit is his pride and people are essentially telling him that they don't need to rely on CGI and whatnot completely like he has for quite a while. I think if he wanted to maintain creative control and do things his way he wouldn't have sold the rights to Disney. Although I don't know if he thought that his ideas would basically be disregarded (his script that he drafted for this film wasn't used at all).

As far as the whiners on the Internet, I think its always fair to point out that most of the fans who are upset with him are only upset that he absolutely refuses to give the original versions of the Original Trilogy. Not that he made changes at all but just the simple fact that he can't make those versions available along with his special editions that he's changed numerous times.

I think the one pulling the carriage is supposed to be one of the ponies from My Little Pony. I have no idea what the other one is supposed to be.
