Yeah, that music was a terrible choice. Other than that, I'm very excited for this movie.
I love the animation style they've used for this movie. It perfectly captures the classic style of the comic strip and television specials, but with an updated feel to it. It seems such a natural fit for the property and I'm so glad they didn't go the "easy" route with the type of computer animation we've seen in movies like Scooby Doo, Yogi Bear, and the Smurfs. Really, as a lifelong fan of Peanuts I'm in awe of the way they've rendered the characters in 3D.
I'm interested to see how they're handling the voice acting for the characters. From the brief bit of dialogue we hear from Charlie Brown and Lucy I couldn't readily identify a specific famous actor like you might be able to in a Pixar or Dreamworks film. Of course, that could just be some test audio. Hopefully they'll go with children like in the specials or employ competent voice actors. Apparently they're using old recordings of Bill Melendez for Snoopy and Woodstock, which I think is a great sign. Again, in other hands I have to think we could've heard Snoopy and Woodstock as fully-voiced characters which would have been a huge mistake.

If the assets are there, there's no reason not to use the old Snoopy/Woodstock voices. They have a nostalgia/magic about them. It'd be stupid to try something new.

Big fan of the strip, the specials (though I'm old enough to remember when they were cranking them out regularly, and some are pretty bad), and the movies, and I really like the look of this.

I can't imagine they would go to the trouble of creating that unique animation and then NOT using a jazz score. From the looks of it the filmmakers are going the correct route with this one. I hope it's safe to assume no crappy pop songs or famous voices for the main cast.

Pretty sure the pop music is just for the trailer, it didn't seem to fit at all. Very intern move.

Haven't seen the trailer yet (blocked at work), but at the very least there should be a nod to Vince Gauraldi in the music.

Next Christmas?

Cute trailer. Definitely interested in seeing it. Big fan of the Peanuts from my youth.

I just realized we're criticizing the trailer for that song, yet not acknowledging the God-awful songs that have been part of PEANUTS movies in the past. Both the "Race for your Life" and "Snoopy Come Home" theme songs are horrendous. On the other hand, the song from "A Boy Named Charlie Brown" is hauntingly good.

Cute poster. With the tag line Dream Big, I wonder how much of the movie is going to be Snoopy's imagination like the Red Baron stuff we saw in the teaser, versus a focus on Charlie Brown and the standard sad sack stories he's usually involved in.

I like the poster a lot. Simple but it works.

Talking about the Red Baron. Not sure about PSN but Xbox Live had a Snoopy fight plane game. It was pretty fucking good for a downloadable game. VERY VERY respectful to that whole aspect. Snoopy is a hell of a fighter pilot. Add in that the Peanuts gang was there in their WWI context.
EDIT: Here we go. It was 360 only. Fun game. It had multiplayer too... that shit got intense and a pretty loyal fanbase too. Dunno if it is still very active I played it again 3 months ago and people were still playing it.

Collectively I've heard of the cartoon referred to as Snoopy or Charlie Brown more than I ever heard the actual name Peanuts, so I assume a ton of Snoopy wouldn't be bad for advertising

Schulz hated the "Peanuts" title for the strip. He wanted to call it L'il Folks, but his syndicate renamed it Peanuts because there was another strip called Little Folks.

L'l Folks is pretty generic. At least Peanuts is more of a play on size than something straight to the point.
