That's great stuff! I can see why it was rejected, though. It's too much synth and not enough hard edge. Dredd was rock/synth.
Very cool nonetheless.

2. How is this doing in the UK? Struggling like it is here?
3. That song that is posted above is great, why was that rejected?

Just everything about this film rocked so goddamn well.
This is the Drive of the year for me. Last year..Drive was Drive. Fucking loved it. This year? Motherfucking Dredd 3D. I'm going to see it next week again cuz it deserves that kind of love. I'm just wowed by it. You can feel the passion for the material in it, man. I'm going to see it as many times as I can before it most likely will get booted out by some piece of shit.

Yea I downloaded the soundtrack earlier this week and have been listening to it nonstop ever since. I just love pulsing electro scores like this!
The rejected score by Geoff Barrow & Ben Salisbury is excellent too & is available from Amazon under the title 'DROKK' Music inspired by Mega-City 1. Sounds like something right out of an 80's Carpenter movie...

I wish I could get a crowd together. The guys at work saw it and they thought it was fucking awesome.
How isn't this doing well?! Is Sly's film still in people's memories?! Do they not remember wtf that looks like in comparison to this?
There's a guy...shooting and kicking ass like a no BS bad motherfucker in the trailers...isn't that enough to get asses in seats?!
Also...my friend said..that Dredd never taking off his helmet was the coolest thing out of it...like..he just was the Law. There's nothing else..but the Law w/ him.
one question: When Anderson is reading Dredd's mind a bit..talking about the anger w/ the control there and something else...was she talking about well...the law? Like that's all there is to Dredd? That's what I assumed...and I really wanted to see her finish that line before she got cut off by the chief judge but...I also liked that she didn't get to finish it..cuz I'm assuming it's the Law she was talking about.

Anderson (through intercom)
I can feel anger. And control. But there's something else. Behind the control. Something almost...
If you know the story-line in the comics, what Anderson is sensing behind his need for control is his sense of doubt about the judicial system. In the comic this sense of doubt leads him to quit and head off into the Cursed Earth. That story-line about him questioning the Judge system was going to form part of the next sequel. Giving Anderson the pass even though she failed his usual high standards shows that he's considering that there might be limitations to his usual methods.
Garland has said he intends to adhere to Dredd's origins as they are laid out in the comic. Dredd knows he's a clone - he always has - and every judge knows too as it's standard practice that a certain amount of Judges are cloned from genetic stock. The new film is not going down the route of Dredd being unaware that he is a clone- one of the shítty mistakes the Stallone film made. The idea that Anderson senses he's a clone doesn't really make any sense as a reasoning behind his motivations as a character with suppressed and controlled anger. He's proud that he's a clone of Fargo: the father of justice.

Well...that's good too. Goddamn it. I really really want another Dredd film. These filmmakers deserve it.
I really really need to get the comics and those CDs. I'm Dredd crazy. More than I was before.

A week or so ago, it was announced that the Dredd soundtrack was number one on the Amazon UK Downloads and number 3 on Itunes.
On Thursday Paul Leonard-Morgan posted on fb that his soundtrack album has gone to number one on the US Amazon new soundtrack releases

I think the soundtrack has been one of the great unexploited tools in the marketing of this film. Why the trailers didn't feature Paul Leonard Morgan's astonishing work is beyond me.

Fir example, a friend of mine went to Dredd on Friday with her boyfriend, walked out after 20 minutes, and posted a rant on FB about how disgusted she was at the movie's gore.

I think the main problem for Dredd at the US Box Office is still that the character is largely unknown. The Stallone version came out 17 years ago, so it might be fresh in a lot of our minds, but the current demographic that Hollywood is aiming at will not have much of a clue. I think a better idea would have been for the character to have been introduced to US audiences more with either a couple of animated movies or a CGI show like the Clone Wars, but with a harder edge. Then once people are more familiar a movie might have proven more successful. I am really sorry this movie has bombed. It was really fantastic and probably will see it again this week. Will certainly grab it on blu ray and its the first movie that has really made me feel like i would enjoy seeing the 3D version again.
