Re: Does anybody else keep a list of movies they've seen?
I have an envelope full of ticket stubs dating back to 1983 in a box where I'd keep old porn magazines, because I thought I was the only person who did that (the ticket stubs, I mean).
I used to buy the old Scheuer, then the Maltin Movie guides, and check off each movie I'd seen; my goal was to see every film in the guide from A-Z, updating each edition when it was published.
It's no wonder I wasn't married until I was 30.

How far did you get, Mike, in terms of seeing every film in the guide? What percentage did you achieve? It's impossible to see every movie they listed in the older guides, since so many of them never came on TV--at least in my lifetime--and have never come out in any home video format. I generally suspected that a lot of the older films were not seen by Maltin or anybody on his staff. They were only guessing based on contemporary reviews of the films.

I started a list in the beginning of 2010, I now keep it as google doc. After every film I see, I write it down, and group it by month.

I've been using Letterboxd since joining MoviePass.

I tried to do this once, for all of the movies I've seen in theaters, and it was an odd experience. For example, I remembered for the time in decades that I had seen "The Last Starfighter."

I have ticket stubs in a box that date back to the early 70s. I started saving them as a kid and as an adult I still save them. Every time I see a movie, I toss the stub into a large cup on the shelf. As soon as the cup gets full, I dump them into the box. I tried quitting this habit, but after 40 years of doing it, it's hard to do. No way in hell I'm ever going to organize and write down all of the titles though. Kudos to you who have the time to do that. One thing that I do like about the AMC Stubs program is that it keeps a digital version of your stubs online for you.

You know, I haven't done a hard count, but glancing at the book, I accomplished a surprising amount. I used to think that I hadn't really "seen" a film that was edited or censored, so I used a system marking a "check" for TV broadcasts and an "X" for home video, theater or pay TV viewings, and updated when I saw a film properly. I would give away a major organ for the kind of time I apparently had back then.

I kinda keep track through IMDB by rating movies, I currently have 2,600 movies ranked, but I know i'm still missing a bunch.
I also have a ticket collection I keep in a photo album, started with Episode 1 and have kept pretty much every stub since. Some tickets fade within a year and others are still bold 10 years later.
I also do this with concert tickets
