Re: So ... who's your favorite James bond, huh?

Connery obviously, but I really enjoyed Lazenby's entry. If Connery had been in OHMSS I think it would have been the best bond movie ever. But on the other hand it was not having Connery that made them pull out all the stops for OHMSS, so maybe it would never have been as good with him.

If I had to rank them I'd rank them like this

Dalton
Connery
Brosnasn
Craig
Moore
Lazenby
Nelson

(Well, maybe Nelson should be above Lazenby, but Nelson was a different Bond, sort of...)

Connery was a good Bond but he's become vastly overrated against the other Bonds at this point.

Yep, the ABC Sunday Night Movie Bonds---that was my early exposure to the series.

Encore on Demand has the first 19 Bond movies up. I'm up to OHMSS and really enjoying them so far as I haven't watched them in about 5 years.

Re: So ... who's your favorite James bond, huh?

Well I voted for Connery simply because "From Russia With Love" is my hands down favorite Bond movie ever. Actual spying and gadgets that weren't too over the top.

Moore is fine when he's playing it straight and not hamming it up. I can't side with Moore because Tarzan swings/birds doing double takes just kills his overall credibility.

Upon seeing OHMSS, I really wish Lazenby had done a few more movies, it might have saved us from "Diamonds are Forever." The OHMSS theme is just killer.

I voted Craig but i like Connery and Dalton too.

I like Craig and Dalton because they both have a somewhat serious take on Bond. I was never a fan of Bond making jokes. Connery made jokes but his overall manly man vibe made the jokes cool and not to overpowering.

Never gave a shit about Bond pre-Craig, and still don't, so Craig.

Elba would make a great Bond but it would never happen. I can only imagine the unadulterated racism that would follow any such announcement.

Re: So ... who's your favorite James bond, huh?

This is a really well made trailer, and it features the moment that I was sold on Dalton as Bond...

<object width="640" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Oa7YAAeO-m4?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Oa7YAAeO-m4?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Check out the way he emotes shock, sadness, and rage from 1:12 to 1:18. In the movie it's even more impressive without the quick cuts for the trailer. The rest of his performance is fantastic as well.

There's just something about Dalton that fits Bond like a glove. He's got class, but isn't pretentious. He's tough and gritty, but still sophisticated. And he comes across as a real person, not a caracature (which Moore slipped into more often than not, and even Connery occasionally lapsed into caracature starting with Goldfinger).

I'm a huge Connery fan, but for me Dalton IS James Bond. He was the perfect guy for the role. Except for the fact that he had to follow the lighthearted caracature that Moore played. People weren't ready for Dalton yet at that point.

I'm going to be rewatching the whole series when the Blu-ray box comes out. My friend and I are planning on doing videos or maybe even fan commentaries for each film, just because we love the series so much. I look forward to re-evaluating Dalton as Bond.

Re: So ... who's your favorite James bond, huh?

My gut instinct says Connery but Lazenby is in my favorite Bond. Craig is in one of my top five Bond movies. Moore was always too cheesy for me. I think he's some of the worst Bonds. I would rate them as:

Connery
Craig
Brosnan
Lazenby
Dalton
Moore

Don't remember the Dalton ones too well. Brosnan gets a bad rap.

I think Brosnan had the potential/wanted to be the best Bond, but he got stuck in some by-the-numbers action movie scripts.

I think "Goldeneye" was a great introduction though.

Yeah, Brosnan's scripts were definitely problematic. That desire of wanting to be the best plus some cool action scenes throughout his run are enough for me though. I think he got the suave part down right though. Too bad he never got to prove himself with a Casino Royale.

Goldeneye is one of the all-time great Bonds, IMO, and I remember when that came out thinking that he was going to have quite a run. I did not really care for any of his subsequent ones.

Goldeneye and Casino Royale are the only Bond movies that I really enjoyed. I appreciate the others, but wasn't knocked out by them.

I remember that site but don't believe I ever posted on it. Brosnan was a great Bond that got stuck with the worst scripts possible.

The poll should not have included Sean since you know he was going to win.
This poll should have been the best 1st time performance of Bond except Sean.

GOLDENEYE had great opening credits and it was like a great date movie.
