Re: Ishy's 2012 Movie Rankings
Would everyone please quit bumping this thread. I keep thinking Ishy is going to let me know about a movie I should avoid at all costs, only to be disappointed.

thankfully I have yet to see a movie this year that needs to be avoided at all costs.
but I'll toss the new Eddie Murphy atrocity into the rink, for your sake.

Re: Ishy's 2012 Movie Rankings
Saw two VERY disappointing films - Prometheus and Moonrise Kingdom.
Prometheus has a terrible script and is really a remake of Mission to Mars more than anything else.
Moonrise Kingdom is nice and quirky and charming and all that...but also a little pointless. Wes Anderson is stuck in a 1-note style of filmmaking, and its not a bad style, but its gets tiring after 3-4 films that are all the same. And the cast is wasted on underwritten characters. I walked out of the theater feeling no different than before I walked in - not a good sign for a Wes Anderson film. Seeking A Friend For the End of the World was vastly more poignant and moving, without 95% of the stylistic flourishes that marinate Moonrise Kingdom.
Prometheus just sucked. what a mess. could have been epic, but is not.
