Last year's had 3 hours of Anne Hathaway. My vote is still last years as a better telecast.

What a horrible show overall. Let me produce and direct next year. I promise I'll keep it under 2 hours. NO film montages. NO song and dance numbers. NO audience interaction. Just nominees and winners.

Billy will be back. He's the Johnny Carson/Bob Hope go-to guy. Would've love to have seen how an Eddie Murphy Oscars would've been.

I'm predicting three majors for next year, right now.

Best Picture - The Dark Knight Rises
Best Director - Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight Rises
Best Actor - Daniel Day-Lewis, Lincoln

And both were ridiculously over-rated (the movie and the A's implementation of the concept)....

So by my tally, here's the final count of wins for the movies that mattered:
5: The Artist, Hugo
2: The Iron Lady ()
1: The Descendants, Midnight in Paris, The Help, Beginners, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Rango, A Separation, The Muppets

So yeah, that happened. See you next year.

Those of us old enough to have seen Bob Hope and Johnny Carson host understand what it was to enjoy, rather than endure, an Oscar telecast.

I don't know how I missed that during the show. Did Meryl Streep really win the Oscar and then slap a black woman? That woman is ruthless.

I can't remember the last time I watched or cared about the Oscars ... does that make me a bad movie geek?

They have that. It's called The Golden Globes. And it picks better winners.

The best moment of the night happened before the show even started. Thanks again, Sasha.

I would've liked to have seen The Descendants win a couple more. Kinda sucks that Hugo won 5 awards, yet none for Martin.

Frankly, the only way I enjoy them now is combining them with the live commenting/posting, as we've done here.

Best part of the night was me winning a king crab leg dinner as a bet on Best Picture (she picked Hugo).

When did Colin Firth work with a young Michelle Williams? I checked IMDB and couldn't find anything.

Please explain your laughing at "The Iron Lady". It's not a great film. Hell, it's not even a good film. But the only two good things going for it were the make up and Streep's performance. Which it both won. So....do tell what's so funny.

Yes. The last time I saw her was when she performed at a Namie Amuro J-pop concert.

A couple of records:
- Christopher Plummer is now the oldest-ever winner in the acting categories.
- Meryl Streep joins Ingrid Bergman, Jack Nicholson, and Walter Brennan on the short list of 3-time winners. Katharine Hepburn holds the record with 4.
