Seems to me like Rodriguez is just having fun and casting anyone that will say yes for a couple bucks. I don't see a problem.

^ Exactly. He was quoted as saying that if the first one made as much as $7 he was making another, and it did. These are little more than self-indulgent projects for those that want them. I happen to be one, others not so much.

If he wants to make grindhouse-esque films, then he should dial them down a bit. I'm not saying I don't enjoy a balls-to-the-wall exploitation flick, but RR's films in that vein feel more parody than homage some of the time.

I'm still looking forward to this, though.

This is true. Who else remembers seeing CGI in a grindhouse film.
IMO El Mariachi captures the spirit of grindhouse more than Machete because of it's budget

Knowing Rodriguez, 3-4 weeks.


EDIT - Principal photography took only 29 days, as shooting wrapped on July 28, 2012
