Yeah, it's definitely out there, but I went with it. The concept of the film, with the players arriving by bus then at the end leaving him, there definitely stuck with me.

I kept reading this thread title and getting confused because I thought Tobe Hooper was the director.

Maybe a mod should change the thread title:
Les Misérables (Dir : Tom Hooper; NOT Tobe Hooper) - Dec 7, 2012
Les Misérables (Dir : Tom Hooper; NOT Tobe Hooper) - Dec 7, 2012

There was a third one with Jackman and Hathaway that NBC Universal pulled down as I posted it.

I'm kind of wondering why they went with an unknown for Eponine with all of these other A-listers involved. I remember the buzz was that it was down to Lea Michele and Taylor Swift, Swift was offered the role, then out of the blue it went to Samantha Barker. Not knocking her, as it's cool they're getting someone with the experience, but all sources seemed to indicate they wanted someone with a bigger name.

We talked about this on the first page of this thread. I think it was brave not casting Swift when she would have certainly increased the box-office appeal of this project. But then again, we've seen how one miscast can ruin a movie musical (Hello, Pierce Brosnan) and Joe Jonas was NOT well received in the 25th Cast production. Besides, Eponine is a pretty small part in the musical and this film isn't like Phantom -- there's plenty of star power left on board.

I was thinking this same thing but changed my mind. While she doesn't have a ton of songs, Eponine is really a key emotional figure. If you don't sympathize with her, you've lost a lot of the punch. (Adult Cosette, on the other hand, is pretty one-note.) Maybe they figured they needed more acting chops than a stunt cast.

Wow, it looks pretty good. It's interesting that they actually show singing, because it seems they usually hide that. But in this case they may have felt it was important to show that, yes, this really is the musical and not another film based on the book.

Thanks for reminding me I have to wait more than six more months!
Seriously, really looking forward to it.
Exactly. Eponine is my favorite character and nothing hits me harder than "A Little Fall of Rain."
