Re: The Dictator - Sasha Baron Cohen's latest

How can it be a mockery of the Oscars when they do stupid shit like this during the show? Besides, considering the producers "warned" him against doing it, they didn't ban him, which they could have. Pretty damn amusing, and he gets to pimp his film, no matter how silly his stunts are. He showed up doing this, they let him, everyone wins.

I don't watch the Oscars but am a little indifferent on this... The Academy Awards from what I recall don't allow movies to be advertised during the show so why you would let someone dress up as a character to promote a movie that is not out yet is a little hypocritical to me.

They do stupid shit during the show but dumping fake ashes on an entertainment reporter without him being in on the joke...they don't do that kind of shit.

Or how would you like it if we started burning some books next?
Thought you had me on ignore? Couldn't do it, huh?

And yes, I would burn all your porn books if I could.

You decided to follow me around and stick your nose in that banning kids from restaurants. It appeared you have some sort of internet fetish with following me around so I couldn't let that go unchallenged.

I get my porn off the internet like a normal person but, even if they loathe the content, only a fascist pig would support burning any book.

Besides porn does a service so guys can get rocks off and still cut the most disgusting, toxic, type of woman out of the intercourse equation.

You know the type right De...DT

Or you could ignore me like you said you would. That would require you to actually, I dunno, ignore me, though. Which you clearly can't do.

You misunderstand me. I'd only burn your porn books.

I'd also make you live in a world consisting of one restaurant filled with children.

These softball entertainment personalities who lob tough questions like "Who designed your dress" are not journalists and seeing SBC dump ashes all over Seacrest was far and away the best thing not just of the night, but of the last three or four Oscar telecasts.

You're defending the man that brought us the walking abortion that is the Kardashian family to our consciousness.

Oh just so there's no misunderstanding I thought it was great and agree that it was one of the best things I've seen in awhile (Oscar or otherwise).

I was just saying that it's not the usual shit the Oscars do (which is why it was so great).

And DT...yeah vendetta's are a two way street but, just using this thread as an example, you've lashed out supporting boycotts of Cohen and called for burning of books you don't like.

I've posted the video and article on the incident that so many in this thread, myself included, thought was awesome.

Where do you think the consensus of the the general population lies?

The guy is funny. I am looking forward to The Dictator. I think it's going to be a bigger hit than Bruno.

Re: The Dictator - Sasha Baron Cohen's latest

It only did half of what Borat did, so some would consider it a disappointment. But, worldwide, it did over $100 million. His movies do better overseas than domestically. Go figure

No I haven't. As I already stated, I would only burn your books. That's simply burning the books of people I don't like.

I would actually be surprised if Ryan Seacrest wasn't in The Dictator. It just looks like that kind of movie.

Whatever you say book burner.

Beyond that a morality of circumstance isn't much of a morality.

Burning books (or what distasteful thing you do or how you act) simply because you dislike an individual speaks to ones morality.

A morality you seem to throw away for petty dislike for someone. No matter how much I dislike you, even if I was in a position of authority over you, I would have maintained myself in a professional manour and not done anything to compromise my personal ethics.

Burning books and banning speech are dark things...even more so when it's done to spite one person. I suspect many of the horrors from our history as a species may have come from such small beginnings.

Considering that most people in this thread like what SBC did at the Oscars that's a quite broad insult to many in this thread.

Re: The Dictator - Sasha Baron Cohen's latest

honestly, i don't mind SBC as an actor and kinda like him, but he does stupid promotional stuff like this that take me out of his graces. he was really good in his serious stuff like Sweeny Todd and Hugo and wish he could just let his work speak and not his antics.
