You're not alone. I find it very funny.

Nothing wrong with that. Cabin Boy is one of the best movies ever. Cabin Boy and The Godfather.

Re: The Dictator - Sasha Baron Cohen's latest

From /Film;

This year, Sacha Baron Cohen is one of the leads of Martin Scorsese’s Hugo, the film that leads all others with 11 nominations. Rumors had begun circling that he might use the red carpet oppurtunity to dress in full costume and promote his summer release The Dictator, in which he plays the vile leader of a small country. This wasn’t confirmed, it was just a rumor.

The Academy has reportedly now responded to those rumors by pulled Baron Cohen’s tickets, all but banning him from Sunday’s awards.

Deadline reported the news of Cohen’s tickets being revoked “unless they’re assured” he won’t make a mockery of the red carpet.

[UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter spoke to the Academy who said "We haven't banned him, we're just waiting to hear what he's going to do." Which is a nice way of saying, he can come if he doesn't dress as The Dictator.]

Yeah, don't make a mockery of the red carpet. That would just be ridiculous..

I'd rather he not be there if he's just going to promote his jackass movie. Hope he stays banned.

Bunch of rich people who give out awards to show how great they are..... are the same people with the great idea of letting franco and that other chick host the show?...

get real... that could bring in viewers to an already low rated program

What a laugh...the Oscars have whored themselves out in trying to capture the lowest common denominator over the last few years, and they are worried about this. The Oscars have become more of a joke than Sacha will ever be.

Eh. This is either a stunt that the Academy is fully behind, so they can "allow" him to attend at the last minute to drive up ratings from audiences who want to see what antics will occur, while giving fantastic publicity to a big studio movie... Or, the issue is that the Academy is worried about the fact that the show is broadcast all over the world and don't want to risk inflaming the hair-trigger Muslim sensibilities.

Most likely the latter. I wish the rumours hadn't come out, I would've liked to have seen the bit. Either way this is guaranteed to be one of the all-time lowest rated Oscars in history.

A mockery of The Red Carpet? What has Joan River been doing for like the past decade.

That's the exact moment I lost respect for the Oscars too. SO many good movies movies released in 2002 and that piece of shit won best Picture?

Sadly I think I am gonna say the same thing this year regarding the Artist.

Act of Valor is 9 minutes short of being his favorite film of all time.

VICTORY IS OURS! Today the Mighty Nation of Wadiya triumphed over the Zionist snakes of Hollywood. Evil and all those who made Satan their protector were vanquished and driven into the Pacific Sea. What I am trying to say here is that the Academy have surrendered and sent over two tickets and a parking pass! TODAY OSCAR, TOMORROW OBAMA!

Yes because banning things you don't like is such a wonderful thing to do.

How about walking into a radio station and throwing CDs away a radio station you morally disagree with?

Or how would you like it if we started burning some books next?

Re: The Dictator - Sasha Baron Cohen's latest

Its a win/win for both parties. Cohen can come out and promote his dopey film and the Oscars will get a few more viewers to see what kind of mockery Cohen can make of the evening.

That anyone thought this was anything other than a publicity stunt from both sides surprises me.

Beautiful. Not only does he make a mockery of the Oscars he's dumps "ashes" of a dead man on Ryan Seacrest

Ryan Seacrest put on a brave face as Sacha Baron Cohen dumped an urn full of pancake mix on his tuxedo, but my sources say his immediate reaction was major anger.

What a jackass
Not a huge fan of Cohen, but anything to make these D-Bags in Hollywood react to something that isn't planned is fine with me.
