Re: Juan of the Dead
Finally! The Cuban remake of Shaun of the Dead we've all been waiting for!
I will admit that it looks funny but, despite a different setting, it's been done. |
Re: Juan of the Dead
....yeah...looks funny...but..it's nothing new. Hope it's good cuz it'd be neat to see a Spanish language Zombie flick.

Funny, I liked [REC] a lot, but I liked [REC] 2 more.

Well that was a disappointment. I didn't feel any tension with the first group. Hated the second group. The ending was contrived as hell. In fact, the second film relies too heavily on contrivances. A shame since I loved [REC] and was looking forward to seeing a trilogy. [REC] 2 killed any interest I had for [REC] 3.

I watched it on-demand last night. The film was so fast and frenzied that I had a heck of a time following at the beginning.

The sequel failed to engage me, but I did like the strong sense of continuity between the films. They could have very easily gone the lazy route and featured a different outbreak in a different building, or somesuch.

Re: Juan of the Dead
I'm amazed at how long this zombie craze has lasted. Zombie movies are now more undead than the zombies themselves.
|
Re: Juan of the Dead
I saw a screening of this yesterday. I liked it and was surprised at the scale of the film (considering the relatively meager budget). It genuinely looks like thousands of zombies have overrun and destroyed the city of Havana.
The characters, including Juan, were likable enough. Thought the script was trying a little too hard to be funny though. There are some excellent zombie kills too, so the gorehounds should be pleased. I prefer Shaun of the Dead, but Juan of the Dead certainly holds its own. Recommended. |

Re: Juan of the Dead
If zombies are the new vampires and zombies have been done way too much already what then is the new zombie?

Re: Juan of the Dead
already in post production folks... WARM BODIES
After a zombie becomes involved with the girlfriend of one of his victims, their romance sets in motion a sequence of events that might transform the entire lifeless world. |
Re: Juan of the Dead
Juan of the Dead looks real legit. Comes out on Blu-ray in August, I think.
