Taken 2 (Megaton, 2012) (Liam Neeson)

I would watch that! In an older thread, some of us came up with an idea featuring the gang playing cards during the concert in the first movie, and reminiscing/flashing back to old missions.

And I do remember the flashback idea. That'd be great as well. Basically, anything focusing on Brian Mills and his pals hanging out and flashbacks with them kicking ass between barbecues and card games would be great. Then have a simple protection gig blow up into something big and they have to go back into action in the present day.
As for Brian's daughter, just have her cameo during a phone call where she's updating her dad about her singing career.

I think the whole movie should have Liam Neeson making phony phone calls and then trying to track down the person he called by identifying their voice. I'd watch that!

A little nugget from CinemaCon...

I have a feeling my enjoyment of this film will have a positive correlation to the # of minutes Neeson spends not chained up in an Albanian basement while his daughter plays Big Girl.

He looks like a badass but Megaton is still the director. Even Statham couldn't save Transporter 3.

Solid looking poster except two words on the bottom: "Olivier Megaton".
I just can't get over that hack is directing this.

Damn, all this time I thought Morel was coming back to direct the sequel. I hated Transporter 3 and Colombiana was such a disappointment.

Not that guy! Damn! I will likely wait for the video release to watch this as I haven't even bothered to watch either of those two movies you mentioned. They simply look terrible.

I haven't followed much of the plot developments for this movie, but having seen the trailer, I gotta say that's a fun premise. Revenge for the hordes of bad guys he killed in the first movie.

It looks pretty decent. Not sure we really needed a sequel but I suppose more of Liam Neeson kicking ass can't be bad.

Looks formulaic and awful. However, I have not seen the original so...

to more of Neeson being a badass.Thank God that early plot synopsis of Bryan's daughter rescuing them wasn't accurate.
Is Bryan supposed to be back with Lenore? At the end of the 1st movie, she was still married to Stuart.
I'll be there to see this in theatres. Bryan Mills, as of right now, is the feature film equivalent to Jack Bauer.

I actually like the concept of having the families of the red shirts from the first film seeking revenge.
Similar to that joke in one of the Austin Powers films (or was it a deleted scene?), I sometimes wonder about how the families/friends of people who are so easily dispatched in action movies feel.
I'm sure this'll reveal itself early on as a needless sequel, but if they're gonna try shoving another film about Neeson kicking ass down my throat, well, I'll just open wide.

...so, cool? The original is outstanding because it's a pretty lean and mean action flick. Not a lot of exposition once it gets going. Just a progression through the bad guys.
My only hesitation with this is that it looks "bigger" than the first. One of the things I appreciate about the original is that there aren't really any huge set pieces (well, maybe one). Most of it takes place in rooms and on city streets. Pretty much from the perspective of Neeson's character as he moves through the world.
Anyway, I have high hopes for a sequel but I wouldn't be surprised if it was disappointing.
