awesome. I'm like pretty giddy about his cuz Regeneration was fucking awesome. One of the best action films of the 2000s for me. Beats the shit out of The Expendables films and many others as well. You fucking felt those hits, man. When action films do that...you got gold, son. Makes me wish Cameron would do a fully live action film again. The man knows how make those hits feel right.

Get VUDU. Works off your 360 or PS3 if you have them.

Alright. Finally finished seeing it. We probably need a reviews thread for this as well. So I'm putting my review in spoilers. Not much to spoil from we've read here but..maybe too much as well.

Spoiler:

Uh...whoa.

This movie gets trippy for sure. Especially that last third of the film is very Apocalypse Now. I think this might actually polarize some fans of the franchise and even average movie goers. I really enjoyed it though. I still need to kind of register wtf I just saw cuz..it's very different from the last one. Which I enjoyed a lot as well.

Story pretty much is that the UniSol program has evolved a bit more from we know of it. Our hero, Scott Adkins, wakes up from a 9 month coma. Only remebering his family and the man who killed them...JCVD. From there shit happens to only further add to the mystery. Seems like the government also wants to take down the rogue UniSols. And from there...more questions are asked, revelations to the hero and etc. Stuff that you actually don't expect from an action movie. Stuff that actually makes you think a bit cuz you're wanting to know why and don't exactly know why this or that is happening but they do get answered. It's not what it brings to the story it's just how it does it...how it's very different from the standard genre norm in terms of what you'd expect.

The action is pretty well done and rather brutal. Not a lot of flashy cutting. You feel the hits for sure. They've got purpose and not a lot of flash. Really liked it as well. Again that last third does it well with how they filmed it.

Talking about filming...I still don't know if this was ultimately filmed in 3D. I can see some places how 3D would actually enhance the environment and mood. ONCE AGAIN that last third of the film is totally different in tone form the rest of it. 3D for sure would make it even trippier. It just doesn't feel a film that could use 3D if you catch my drift.

I'm not sure what the budget on this was but I kind of wish it had a bigger one cuz the last one due to the location alone added soooooo much production value to it. That this one as visually interesting as it is kind of feels a bit low in design. Not a slap on the film just a personal thing I would've liked.

It's a damn good movie..it just...kind of mind fucks you w/ what you might expect.

I got it on Xbox, but not sure it is worth the $6 they want to charge considering I will have it free in a month. Did love and just ordered Regeneration...

Can't read Solid Snake's comments just yet. Was gonna go out tonight, but I think I will be staying in and watching this on VUDU.

I noticed Amazon has it now for $9.99. I think the SD version through VUDU could be less. Either way, I'm seeing it in a few minutes. We should start a 'reviews' thread, too.

EDIT - looks like it's $9.99 on VUDU for the SD version. It goes up for the HD & HDX versions.

I set up my PS3 and 360 w/ VUDU. I've never used it till someone here mentioned it. In doing so..I got $10.98 in credit. The 720hp is $10.99. Soooo I paid a penny for it. Totally worth the penny.

...I don't know. It's so much different than Regen was to UniSol. I think it's an overall superior film to Regen but...I think I enjoyed Regen more. I don't know how to explain that. I think I just like the prime location in that one so much more cuz it was so visual for it. But this one is pretty fucking awesome

I honestly do think that this film will polarize what people may think it may be. It's actually a film that will make you actually think a bit. Not cuz it has depth to it but cuz the story is a kind of a mind fuck for you.

re: Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning (dir. John Hyams) >> 2012

Okay, just finished watching it. Man, I'll have to write a review for it, but keeping it simple - it's a such a

Spoiler:
multi-genre themed film. It's got elements of horror, psychological thriller, action, drama, sci-fi, etc., all in one.

Thematic-wise, it's completely different from REGEN. It's extremely darker in tone. The action scenes were motherfucking stellar! Best fights for me would have to be the Scott Adkins vs Pitbull at the sporting goods store and Scott Adkins vs Dolph Lundgren in the armory. My nuts just sucked into my stomach during those two fights in particular.

Okay, somebody give John Hyams money and a studio picture deal and let him direct something big. Expendables 3 would be a fine start.

re: Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning (dir. John Hyams) >> 2012

I totally want Hyams to do EX3. Someone competent enough to get a good plot and solid direction. I'd argue that in US action films...Hyams is the best chance to get what we really want in our action films. Things that the EX1 and EX2 failed at. Shit stories, too much cheese, iffy editing, weird ass color timing, and half assed attempts in believing our heroes feel pain. Hyams gets it all right. I know my hero will triumph but at least surprise me, you know?

This movie blew me away. At times I didnt even know what I was watching, but I loved it. Brutal fight scenes. Im sure half the budget was on fake blood.

Universal Soldier
Regeneration
Day of Reckoning

I'd skip the SyFy ones and the official sequel that had Goldberg in it.

Through that one is worth a watch for Goldberg and Micheal Jai White. Its just been retconned with Regeneration.

It's been so long since I'd seen it. Never bothered to watch again. I did like the Megadeth 'Crush 'Em' video for it, though.

• GLADIATOR…
