There was about 10 people at the 9 p.m. showing (for "Take Me Home Tonight) last night in a somewhat large-sized theater, so I knew it was going to horrible at the box office.

Kind of a bad weekend to open against Matt Damon and Johnny Depp but I didn't think Take Me Home Tonight would do THAT bad. Movie looks "wait for DVD" good to me... lucky for me thats not too far away.

Take Me Home Tonight sat on the shelf for years under the name Kids in America, and was sold off by Universal to Relatively Media...so yeah, prospects weren't good.

How can Universal sell a film they own to a studio they (partially) own?

Re: Weekend Box Office (3/4-3/6): Topher Grace goes home alone

I was laughing my ass off from start to finish at TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT. It was one of the more original comedies I have seen in a long time. They totally captured the time period perfectly. The soundtrack was kick-ass and anyone who enjoyed 80's comedies, this actually feels like that was when it was from. That is to say it has the look and feel of the 80's Rated R comedies I so fondly remember. Its a shame it did not do so well. It seems that comedies are becoming more and more scarce at the box office. Sure there are tons of "dramadies" but this was just a fun time from start to finish.

Wow, my friend Ronnie told me that the Topher Grace film was gonna bomb, but I didn't believe her. But looking at the grosses for Take Me Home Tonight, it's just like Ronnie said.

Probably the same was certain post-production houses will invest in certain studios, and then get the money recouped when said studio is required to use them for their services.

Seems like a fancy money laundering scheme.

That might be the first time anyone has uttered the phase "the Topher Grace film."

"It's just like Ronnie said" is a line in the song "Take Me Home Tonight".

I really wanted to see Take me Home Tonight but it didn't even fucking open in Canada - which almost never happens.

How dare you want to erase Bryan Adams, Loverboy and Corey Hart from history!

Huh? Relativity is Ryan Kavanaugh's company, I'm not aware of Universal owning any part of it. They have a co-financing deal with Universal but they also have financing deals with most of the other majors.

Relativity also bought Rogue Pictures from Universal.

No, no, no. Canada has repeatedly apologized for Bryan Adams.

I just saw Take Me Home Tonight, and I really enjoyed it. And goddamn, Angie Everhart still looks great.
