Brimley played an old fart... and naturally looked like one at the time. None of the actors mentioned currently look like they would even come close to playing one of the old characters in Cocoon without the heavy use of makeup and/or CGI. Hell, in another 10 years and I don't think they'll look as old as Brimley did.

EDIT: Just realized that in 9 years I could play Brimley's character in a Cocoon remake (if we're just going by age). That just doesn't seem right.

I remember in one ep, Lisa was born during the 1984 Summer Olympics--KrustyBurger had a free hamburger drive for every gold medal the US won, but only chose events were the USSR was heavily favored. Of course, the Soviets boycotted, and Krusty took a bath.

Bart was two at the time. So going by that, Bart is 29/30 and Lisa is coming up 27. Maggie should be around 20. But going with the December 1989 origin of the show, Bart is 32, Lisa is 29/30, and Maggie is around 22. Maggie is the same age of an entire generation for whom the show has always been on TV.

Speaking of the Simpsons, Lisa was scheduled to marry Hugh Parkfield on August 1, 2010.
