If Smith did it...I could see him do it. I just expected see a darker complexioned black man be Django. And I dunno why I didn't think of SLJ as Stephen. That could work. Again...I assumed someone w/ a gruffer voice.

If Will Smith is involved with this I will likely pass.

You don't think QT could get the proper acting from him? Or just not a fan of him? Granted...I'm not a fan of Smith. I think he's a cool guy from what I can see and he's done some neat movies but I don't go to see it cuz of him. He can get a solid role in when he needs to. BUT....I don't see Django looking like anything like him. Also...I don't think his voice would carry well w/ the dialogue....If QT picked him...I'm sure he'll do fine.

Oddly enough, I started to see the old spice guy in the role for django. Probable a terrible fit, but it made me laugh. Will smith is an intriguing choice.

I'm not entirely familiar with the art of screen-writing (apparently there's more to it than just writing paragraphs and dialogue), but why are random words capitalized in the script? Example: a YOUNG BOY leads a herd of BABY GOATS through town.

Specific items that are needed at times. In the case of the boy..it has to be a young boy. Dunno why the goats were capitalized.

these are most likely mental notes to himself - like solid said these are probably specific for a visual he'd like to create.

This looks good on paper so far. And yeah for scripts, things that you need or are first mentioned are often capitalized.

Time to abandon the very thread I started. You guys really need to cool it with the spoilers.

i've never read a script before seeing a film and i wanted to try it this time. countless hollywood execs/producers/directors/actors/drones read scripts before films are made and i'm sure they still end up loving them.
also back on topic...Will Smith isn't a bad choice. he's the only actor who could help get this film made without any major editing to the script and still get people in the seats.

Makes it easier for the production crew to go through the script and figure out what actors and props are needed -- instead of reading the descriptions in detail, they can scan through for capitalized terms.

I've done the same the thing with Inglourious Basterds, and it was a great time.

Just finished reading it...At this point I gotta say, this script is on a Blazing Saddles level of boldness. It has exploitation roots and it pushes buttons....there are characters and attitudes in here that are going to upset people. Who knows what it'll look like when it's actually made (I think QT will tinker with the climax just as he did for KB and IB), but it has something to say, and unlike the Nazis it doesn't have an evil that American audiences can feel a certain distance from....the evil is part of American history, and that is really going to set some people off.
If Will Smith does this movie, I will be shocked. And happy.

Of course, I haven't read the script so I really don't know what's required for the character. I'm just responding to the Smith suggestion, that's all.
