Quentin Tarantino Next Movie to be a Spaghetti Western Starring Christoph Waltz?Posted 02.28.11 by Ryan
It's been a few years since writer/director Quentin Tarantino made his 2009 World War II action/drama Inglourious Basterds, but Tarantino has yet to announce his next project. If the latest rumor is to be believed, Tarantino will be making a Spaghetti Western.
The rumor stems from an interview from Italian site Movieplayer with similarly Italian actor Franco Nero (Letters to Juliet, Django). The Playlist intercepted the interview, and, after processing it through an online translator, found an admission that Nero is working with Tarantino on the Western.
The film will be called "The Angel, The Bad And The Wise" and is a tribute to [The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly director] Sergio Leone. It’s a movie that contains humor, lots of action, but also a great plot. We have already been signed by a dozen people who will be part of project. Among the filmmakers involved include Quentin Tarantino, Keith Carradine, Treat Williams, fifteen people in all Americans who want to do this movie and so we are trying to produce it outside of Italy.
AICN somewhat confirmed the rumor after contacting their "Tarantino sources" and found out that "1) Quentin Tarantino's next film is a spaghetti western, 2) Christoph Waltz is 'one of the stars,' and 3) that title is completely wrong (even if it got completely mangled by Google Translate, it's still not even close)". The AICN report was "inclined to believe" that Nero, Williams and Carradine would be involved, and have "heard the plan is to shoot the film in Italy and Spain later this year."
All of the rumors, so far, are unconfirmed, but if they are true, expect an official confirmation soon. Tarantino did admit in 2009 that he planned to make a "smaller, less epic" movie before launching into a proposed Basterds prequel

I'm down with this. Thankfully the movie title is "completely wrong" as it is terrible.

 Nero, Waltz, Carradine and Williams.

Lets see if this actually materializes.

Who wants to bet Eli Wallach will make an appearance?

IF this is real....I'm game w/ whatever QT gives us. He's done no wrong to me.

I wonder if QT could outwrite himself in making a character w/ Waltz in mind? Fucking Hans Landa was amazing.

If he's even half as good as Lee van Cleef, he will have succeeded. No slam on Landa, but man Cleef was the ultimate badass in GBU.

No offense to Van Cleef...but it was Leone that made him amazing on a visual basis. Yeah..he was badass already...but Leone made him a god in TGTBTU. Not even Henry Fonda could top him. THOUGH..Fonda had the greatest entrance for a bad guy. Also...I don't know if I'd call Landa a badass, in literally being a badass..but he was a fucking great villain. He was badass in that aspect.

Also..if QT get's this film made who will be his editor...and will he finally get Ennio Morricone as his composer?

Like everything else QT does, I'll believe it when I see it. And like everything else QT does, when I see it, I'll love it.

Don't get your hopes up. I'm calling it now. Won't happen. At least not within the next five years.

If it's untitled, why does the OP mention that it's called "The Angel, The Bad And The Wise"? :hscratch:

Would be great if he can get Ennio Morricone for this (he tried for IB).

Solid Snake--you need to see Roger Corman's THE WILD ANGELS (1966), still the best biker film ever!

Oh, and Peter Fonda was good in the 3:10 TO YUMA remake.

I'll believe this when I see a trailer/teaser. Until then, it sounds like something that will stay in development for about as long as IB.

Anyone who doesn't like Peter Fonda needs to be tied to a chair and shown The Limey until they repent.
