Yeah, QT is all I need to hear and I'm excited. Although, I didn't think that Death Proof was any good, but that's the exception.

I just wish he'd get off his ass so we wouldn't have to get all jumpy about rumors and not see anything for years.

Quentin Tarantino’s spaghetti Western has moved swiftly from Internet rumor to confirmed reality, with Deadline reporting that Tarantino has said that he expects to turn in a completed script within the next couple of months. Compared to more recent projects, Tarantino said this one “just flowed out of him”—which seems likely, considering he’s been talking up doing a Western for some time now. As Playlist points out, as far back as 2007 he was discussing the possibility of doing a Western story set in “slavery times”—something Tarantino more properly termed “a Southern”—which would deal with that dark chapter in American history by way of making it into an adventure, much as Inglourious Basterds turned the Holocaust into a fun little Nazi-smacking romp. Anyway, there’s obviously no confirmation yet that Tarantino intends on keeping that direction for this film, but given how quickly we’re learning about this project, we expect to hear more details soon enough.

a couple of months till he's done? Jesus...did he just start it of all sudden and BAM!? That's pretty fast.

What's the fastest QT has worked before? Maybe Deathproof?

On his last Charlie Rose appearance, Qt said that if he was ever to do one biopic, it would be about John Brown. The supposed timeline looks about right for this.

Guaranteed that he's been working on this script for a long time. He didn't just start working on it.

There's a chef in my town who is a big Tarantino fan and has even named a few of his dishes after things in the movies (Royale with Cheese Five Pointed Palm Exploding Heart sandwich). One of his restaurants is named Django, and if this is true I expect it to be reflected on his menu.

True, but I don't think Tarantino's handwriting is so distinct that a child couldn't have done it. Not saying it isn't legit, but most anything I don't hear from his mouth (and a lot that I do) is often dubious as best.

re: Django Unchained - Quentin Tarantino spaghetti western

General consensus seems to believe that this is the real deal. A lot of movie sites are reporting it as fact and I'm inclined to believe it. What I'm not so sure I believe (but desperately want to!) is this tidbit from someone who posted on HitFix's story.

Script is legit. Quentin had a publishing party for the script this week. Gave copies of his latest opus to all his inner circle (director friends, collaborators, agents, etc.). It's classic QT and it's awesome. It's also super fuckin controversial and people are going to go nuts when they read/see this thing. It's not at all a Django movie in the sense that the Franco Nero movie was. I'll give you all a little hint: Django is the name of a freed slave who becomes a bounty hunter tutored by another bounty hunter - Waltz - on a take no prisoners quest to rescue his wife from an evil plantation owner. This thing rocks from page one to page 166.

That sounds awesome but IMO Tarantino can do no wrong so if it's Tarantino + Spaghetti Western I'm excited! It doesn't matter what it's about.

Sounds like it's VERY confirmed here:

Django Unchained will be casting up quickly to begin production later this year; whether it starts late summer or fall depends on cast availability.

He makes a movie about a band of Jewish Americans who kill Nazis and now he's doing one about a slave going after a plantation owner. It's not a bad formula.

Not to mention Kill Bill, which was also a revenge movie.

Revenge is Tarantino's theme. It's in every single one of his movies.

I'll agree that Death Proof may not be Tarantino's best effort but Inglourious Basterds ranks right up there with Jackie Brown, if not higher.

I'm not sure how a poorly accented Brad Pitt carving a swastika into a living man's forehead is supposed to stack up to the wonderful Jackie Brown. The latter is a beautiful piece which celebrates humanity, particularly of it's old (by hollywood standards) and female lead character, while the former is pure exploitation.
