Yeah, but the rest of us don't know that, so Hitler gets a pass. Most of us here do know backwoods rednecks, though, so we're apt to have a stronger basis on which to judge Pitt's accent. And I still say it took me out of the movie whenever he spoke.

Once upon a time, oh, say the 1970s, there were plenty of actors with genuine backwoods accents who could have played the part without any accent coaching at all. Remember the days when movies were filled with guys like L.Q. Jones, Warren Oates, Bo Hopkins, Paul Koslo, Claude Akins, the Vint brothers, Jerry Reed, Gary Busey, Roy Jenson, Bill McKinney and Burton Gilliam...not to mention Burt Reynolds. (Just how great would it have been to cast Burt in his prime in the Aldo Raine role?)

I can't believe this thread title still hasn't been fixed yet. Are the mods just completely ignoring it?

I think it's intentional by now.

Have you guys tried PM-img a mod? I know it unbelievable with what they're paid, but they may have missed the request.

It's not a big deal...I kind of like that it still has the current. Now watch a Mod change it to spite me.

I'm boycotting this thread, this site and will refuse to the see the movie if the thread title isn't changed.

I will even go as far as selling all my QT DVD's. :mad2:

But his Italian accent was horrible...

I'm curious to see what music QT will use in this one.

I'd enjoy it very much so if Morricone said yes to doing the score.

I DO remember those days and I think actors like that are sadly missing from Hollywood. These days people think that a southern accent can be coached and be convincing but 99% of the time to someone who grew up in the country it ends up sounding stiff and forced.

I agree that an early 70's Burt Reynolds would have been genius in this.

And I think that such an accent is mostly gone due to the education system and the culture involved w/ it. That accent is weird to hear moreso now incomparison to that era. Also...it was on purpose. Let it go people. It's not odd to believe that such a man existed.

According to a tweet from a writer for Variety, Costner is out due to scheduling conflicts. Too bad.

Justin Kroll - Variety

Wow. IMO, not a good move for Kevin Costner. His career isn't exactly on fire right now.

This would've been a good vehicle for him.

yeah, it's been a while since people have taken Costner serious. This would've been a damn fine switch up for what people perceive him as.

Conster is from Compton, and I'm sure his old homies from the hood would have taken serious issue with him playing that role. Smart move on his part IMHO :thumb:

Rejection is never easy, but it's something that actors have to deal with all the time. A filmmaker might tell you that you're the perfect person for a role, but the person that comes in right after you may impress them even more. Up-and-comers deal with this on a day to day basis, but I imagine it must be even harder for an established actor to lose out on a part. Take Michael K. Williams, for example. Though he earned endless praise for his role as Omar on the hit HBO show The Wire, he recently told Shadow and Act that it was down to just him and Jaime Foxx for the lead role Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. Williams ended up losing the title part, but don't start shedding tears for him just yet.

According to the actor, Tarantino and Williams have continued to talk and he may end up with a role in the movie anyway. "It’s not official yet but there’s a lot of talk that there may be a role coming back ‘round my way," the actor said. "His people and my people have been in discussions in regards to a role that he is creating for me." Should Tarantino gift Williams with a special role, he will find himself surrounded by top-tier talent on the set. In addition to Foxx, the cast already includes Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson and Gerald McRaney. The movie tells the story of an escaped slave (Foxx) who teams up with a German bounty hunter (Waltz) to get revenge against his former owner (DiCaprio) and rescue his wife.

Williams hasn't exactly been struggling since The Wire ended in 2008, having landed multiple parts in film and a recurring role on HBO's Boardwalk Empire as Chalky White, the "mayor" of Atlantic City's African-American population. If you can't wait any longer for your Michael K. Williams fix, however, be sure to tune into the season premiere of NBC's Community tomorrow night, where the actor will as Professor Kane, the college's biology professor.

interesting...glad to hear he was in the running for the Django role since he was who i was picturing in my head while reading the script.

As it stands, this is the least "cool" casting Tarantino has done outside of Mike Meyers in Inglourious Basterds.

what do you mean?

I meant as a whole. That said DiCaprio as a slave owner amuses me. I don't like Foxx.

Didn't know he was up for it either, but now I kinda wish it was him who had landed the role. I keep thinking of Steamin Willie Beamin when I think of Jamie Fox.

I'll trust QT.

I don't really like Jamie Foxx either but the rest of the cast is good so far and Tarantino has never really made a movie I disliked. Death Proof is probably his weakest but even that I liked for the most part.
