Hall Pass
The Farrelly Brothers return to the big screen with a comedy based on the premise of 2 married guys getting a 1-week "hall pass" from their wives where they get to spend the week as single guys with no marriage baggage or commitments.
Fred (Jason Sudeikis) and Rick (Owen Wilson) don't quite make the most of their hall pass week, and their wives Grace (Christina Applegate; married to Fred) and Maggie (Jenna Fischer; married to Rick) have their own unplanned adventures during the week while staying away from their homesteads.
There are some relatable comedic bits (from the point of view of guys in their late 30s trying to immerse themselves back in the dating scene, as well as having their guys support group looking to live vicariously through this hall pass week), some gross out scenes (hey, it's a Farrelly Brothers movie), and some focus on morals at odds with libidos.
The script doesn't always hit the mark, and there are some miscues here and there (truly random stuff just happens without much payoff later, but there are other bits which are set up with throwaway lines that pay off later in spots), which slows down the flow of the film, but its 3rd act is decently paced in a screwball comedic manner.
I give it 2.5 stars, or a grade of C+.

Definitely has some moments that really work and provide some good laughs but I found most of it to be 'cute' or trying too hard, rather than delivering big laughs. Sudekis and Wilson make the most of it though, so it isn't painful to sit through. However the concept is nearly wasted by not being edgy enough. There are some scenes that will stay with you (hot tub) for all the wrong reasons but there are some good lines and funny bits here and there. Decent matinee or rental IMO.

To be fair, it's established better in the actual movie then what the trailers show.
I caught this tonight and thought it was OK. I'd probably give it a C. I would agree with mdc3000 that it wasn't as edgy as it should have been, which was what I was expecting. It just didn't balance the down to earth stuff with the raunchiness very well and I think it would have been better off going all out with the dirty jokes and scenes rather then sprinkle them in here and there between the more genuine emotions from the guys that make up most of the movie.
The payoff for a lot of jokes and awkward moments also don't seem to quite hit the peak that they're supposed to.

I saw it last week, nothing special but still entertaining. All the guy friends were great except Owen Wilson, what a bore.
On a side note, i had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the movie, something i usually try to avoid. I waited off for what seemed like a break ithe action, some scene with the chick from The Office. I rush off, do my business and get back to the theater fairly fast. I open the doors to the dark theater, round the corner and boom

Did all of the Farrellys' friends show up? It's been lackluster, except for their first few movies. But I always like seeing the same actors return.

That is funnier than anything in the movie...

Pretty average movie, nothing really jumped out at me. I actually found Stephen Merchant's little post-credits "what if" hall pass bit funnier than pretty much anything in the entire movie.

Owen Wilson looks like hell too.
There was one payoff that I didn't expect -- the hot chick dropping her top. I just didn't see that coming and I thought she'd only play a very, very small roll in the movie.

I watched this on cable last night. It's amusing, but fairly stupid. J.B. Smoove needed a bigger role. The "sneeze shit" and huge black dick were the funniest scenes. I laughed at the last line. I wouldn't watch it again, but it kept me entertained.
