The franchise is already a joke after the last 2 movies but I find myself pumped for this. I don't hold the movies in reverence like I did for so long, I liked both Rise of the Machines and Salvation but they brought the franchise down. I don't care about how old Arnold is or even out of shape, he's great being that character and it should have a few cool action scenes. Plus this sounds much better than that Governator movie he was proposing.

The Terminator franchise has only one way of continuing and that's in the future with Skynet and the Humans co-existing in a form of detente while fighting elements of each other, and ultimately having to work together. Keep T1 and 2 as canon and leave the past portion be; everything would be past the final use of time travel which caused the events of T2.

Dude needs to hang it up. Seriously. Who in their right mind wants to see this guy on the big screen ever again?
He can't act. He's 63. Give it the fuck up. Have some dignity. His action hero movie star status is a distant memory. He'll be laughed off the screen if he tries to recapture his so-called "magic".

Apparently the rights will revert back to Cameron in 2018, Im sure once he gets em back he will basically sit on them forever, which would be for the best.
Too bad by then there will have been at least a few more terrible Terminator movies.

I can say that a) I have no interest in any Terminator movie that doesn't have at least cursory participation from Arnold, and b) that I will definitely see a Terminator movie starring Arnold.
However, I hated Salvation and I had thoroughly written the franchise off during the following legal battles and nonsense. I also don't know where of interest they could be taking it. But I'm not opposed to it.
At one point, a studio was thinking about an animated movie. I understand that animated films, be it CG or 2D, get dismissed by fans when talking about sequels, but I never quite got that. If it's a good film, it's a good film. That might be an interesting approach. Then again, considering how much I hate the stupid cartoon Arnold's gonna be in, maybe not.
Also, I don't think Arnold's going to get laughed off the screen at all. His five minute appearance was the only thing I liked about The Expendables. It made me aware of how much I missed seeing him in movies.

I'd rather watch Salvation over T3. Jesus, T3 was just bad. Salvation at least had some good action. T3 was stupid...

Exactly, Snake; just having Arnold doesn't make it worthy of interest, if that interest is more than just causal.

I like Salvation and wouldn't mind seeing T5 dealing with the creation of a time machine, trying to send Reese back in time, and the terminators trying to prevent that.
Of course we know how it turns out, but I think it would be fun to watch. Connor must succeed, otherwise he doesn't exist.

I enjoy T3 a great deal, because of Arnold. And as I always say, Cameron said he really liked T3 as well...good enough for me.

Well, he said that at release, when negatives would have hurt his friend's return; afterward, Cameron said they had "pissed in the soup."

TS at least was an action film....w/ Terminators. Granted..I'd like to see all those scenes that were cut cuz it seemed like it was a chunk of development.

Re: He'll be Back! Arnold Schwarzenegger to return to acting.
EDIT: He said it in February 2010 and doesn't cite Mostow. I have no particular reason to believe he is a) retracting his comment about Mostow and/or b) talking about Mostow as much as or more than McG and the people who made the television show. My memory is that he said he liked the action and he liked Arnold's performance, and he said he respected where Mostow went with his threads in comparison to what the third Alien film did with the pieces he left behind. The quote, based on the question ("Would you make another Terminator?") is more about the mythology not being in a place he wants to pick up the threads from and less about the sequels sucking, although it has a negative tone. But again, I doubt he's retracting his previous statement...if he was just being polite, it seems weird that he'd single out and celebrate the same aspect he is now "truthfully" dissing.

Re: He'll be Back! Arnold Schwarzenegger to return to acting.
this is what he said:
this was Feb. 2010.
September 2010
He's being...professional about it.
this was Feb. 2010.
From my perspective, it's run its course and I don't know what else to say that hasn't been said. Plus, frankly... the soup's kind of been pissed in a little bit by other filmmakers, so I don't have any personal desire to go back to it. So I certainly wouldn't want to be a dog in the manger and disallow my friends from making a little money off it. Why would I do that?"
And now, he is going after "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" and "Terminator Salvation." "You definitely want to see them Not do as well [as 'Terminator' and 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day']," said Cameron. "With 'Terminator 3' and 'Terminator 4,' because Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sam Worthington were in them, I wanted them to do well, but just not that well." Many fans will agree with Cameron that the first two installments were superior, but it's a bit surprising to hear the Oscar-winning director take the time to say negative things.

whether you liked it or not..is irrelevent. It was a sloppy flick. It didn't know how far to go or how far not to go in terms of exposition and tone.

Thanks Snake, those were the quotes I was going to provide.
Droidguy, he was clearly talking about both films (filmmakers) coupled with what he said about the finances compared to his films; he was as Snake said, being professional about it.
