....uh yeah, Forster is a solid actor that isn't offered good roles. Jackie Brown alone proves how good he is. Who won that year of the Oscar?
EDIT: nvm...that was an interesting year. Never saw Amistad (Hopkins) or Good Will Hunting (Williams)...I dunno why I haven't. Burt Reynolds for Boogie Nights and Kinnear for As Good as It Gets.

"Bridesmaids" had really boring direction in the first half of the film, and I don't think Kristen Wiig is ready to anchor a 2-hour comedy film. There is some truly gross out comedy in the first half (mainly the scene of the ladies trying out the dresses), but other than that, the material still need work, alot of work. The second half has better energy and direction, but again, the script just doesn't quite gell, and the movie ends without much fanfare.
I give it 2 stars or a grade of C.

Just got back from seeing it. Hilarious! Melissa McCarthy stole the movie. But everyone did a great job.

True, I was being a little harsh. Jackie Brown was a tremendous role and he did a great job. He never got into the upper echelon or at least was able to stay there. PSH has been the main antagonist in MI3 with Cruise and now Wiig is on the verge of having a number 1 movie. It will be interesting to see what she can do with it.

Remember guys, if you are going to see this then go to best buy tonight...
i got In Bruges (which i hear is amazing) for 10 bucks and it had a free ticket in it
There were also a ton more at the same price with a free ticket.
Spoiled as not to take up too much space in the review thread, but i thought some could use this.

Darn, I wish I'd known about the free movie ticket.
Anyway, my wife and I liked it alot, a definite day one Blu-ray purchase. But it wasn't nearly as funny as the Hangover.
And as said before, McCarthy stole every scene she was in.

Wish I'd have seen the thing about the tickets too. I really enjoyed this. It seems like it will be a good one for repeat viewings.

Re: Bridesmaids (2011, Kristen Wiig/Judd Apatow)
I liked it a lot and thought it was easily the funniest movie of the year so far, however it could have standed to lose about 15 minutes of stuff that didn't quite work. I hate when there is a misunderstanding or in this case, the main character totally loses it and then spends part of the movie estranged from the group. It does offer a few great moments but Wiig's character really descends into being a huge dick and it's tough to come back from that point completely - some of it just rang false to me. I know it's par for the course for stuff in the trailer to not make the movie, but the bit with the kid eating the birth control NOT being in the film was a bummer. I also wish we could have gotten more of the supporting cast like Ellie Kemper and the Reno 911 chick, because they were hilarious.

I was telling the people I saw this with, "Can't wait to see the deleted scenes AND the gag reel/bloopers on the DVD". They will be great. BTW, as I've mentioned here before, I didn't find "The Hangover" funny at all (laughed maybe 5 times), but I thought this was comedy grand slam. With some serious and sad parts.

Loved it. Hardest I've laughed at the movies in years. I saw it in a pretty full theater and they all seemed to be enjoy it too. Nearly constant chuckles throughout followed by some huge laughs.
Wiig rules this, and McCarthy goes for it with some serious gusto. Plus it's got some nice emotional moments that ring very true. It is weird how many scenes are different from the trailers or just plain not in the movie but that what special features are for.
Highly recommend it.

The wife and I enjoyed it quite a bit. **** out of five.
Wiig did a great job of carrying the film. And McCarthy easily held up her end.
Rose Byrne has dead eyes.

I too think that Wiig had no problem as the star. She was great, and the movie was the funniest I've seen in a while. Certainly better than the first Hangover. There are many hilarious scenes, but I'm sure the one that will get mentioned most is the bridal shop scene.
Apparently Wiig and Maya Rudolph are very close friends in real life, and it show on the screen. They have an excellent rapport, and the dialogue between them usually sounds very fresh and you can believe that real people would talk this way to each other. McCarthy is a little more over-the-top, but she steals every scene she's in.
According to the IMDB, there is already talk of a sequel. You know Hollywood likes to take an unexpected success and beat it unmercifully until it dies.

The wife and I caught this one yesterday. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with it. I didn't hate it or anything, but I just didn't enjoy it like I thought I would.

Really enjoyed this, but it could have been trimmed by about 20 or 30 minutes.
The airplane sequence, the part where they drive by the cop 50 times to distract him, etc.
