Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

I read that Tyler Stout is doing a Drive print which will be released in June along with the soundtrack on Vinyl. Gonna be all over that when it comes out.

He is also doing the artwork for the album.

Any word (rumor or otherwise) on an edition size for the Drive LP? I'm not in any way, shape, or form an LP collector, but Drive was one of my favorite movies of the last few years, and you can be sure that packaging is gonna be sick!

The package artwork for the vinyl will post likely be available as a limited screenprint as well. I just hope they're not released at the same time because I wouldn't mind owning both of them (assuming the vinyl is limited edition).

My thoughts exactly...but when it comes down to it, if they're released at the same time I have to go for the print.

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

So I haven't seen anyone mention Joshua Budich in this thread...he's got some cool movie prints every now and then, I've got his Fight Club variant on my wall and I must say it is bad ass.

Edit: Apparently I'm not allowed to post URL's since I'm so green. But if you want to check out his stuff, I bet Google will oblige.

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

Stout got me into collecting these things 4 years ago. Haven't had any interest in his stuff in a while. Traded or sold off all his prints except The Thing and his Star Wars set. Funny how our tastes change.

Budich is seen as kind of a Stout ripoff on other forums. I think his Beatles print looks pretty cool though.

He seems hit or miss. His Princess Leia Tryptich for Acme was a huge miss.

He has talent, but he doesn't have the "eye" that Stout has yet.

Here's a non-Mondo poster I scooped up today:

I like that it looks like an old poster they'd use for a theatrical run. I hate they ripped off The Mutilator's tag line though. I'm indifferent about the movie itself but a great poster overall.

Anyone snag the new Rhys Cooper from Tommy Good? I love his stuff but passed on this one, excited to see what else he'll do for them in the future. His Clockwork Orange is phenomenal.

17 people in line at the Mondo Gallery. They braved the cold, wind and rain last night!

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

Sounds like its going to be a fucking madhouse over there tonight. I am not waiting in line that long in this miserable goddamn weather we're having. It's like a Portland winter night outside today.

They already announced that a Khan print is coming later in the summer... that's the only print I'd wait in freezing rain for.

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

Oh i forgot, i also checked out the new Drafthouse and it's walls were sporting some of the more recent Mondos all framed up. They had FP, all the Apes, 2 most recent Gremlins, Texas chainsaw, probably a few more.

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

And I slept through the entire opening... lol.

Gotta get that Ansin Brazil print.

I think TStout has lost me with his style with the Khan print. Not a fan. Wouldn't have waited overnight for that one... but people love it.

When is this place open for reals anyways? Tomorrow?

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

It was open today at 6 to the public. I showed up at 230 and people had been going in for a while. Honestly there were more VIPs than people waiting outside. They can't complain much though. They got an Olly Moss Doctor Who print edition size of 70!

I inquired about two pieces. The Ken Taylor David Bowie and the Rachel from Blade Runner done in the Nagel style. Both sold. No matter, got some badass prints! Love the Khan, Brazil, Forbidden planet, and Duck Dodgers. Yes mondo has The WB license!

The Forbidden planet is the winner of this new batch for me. But not enough to buy. Glad I don't love that Stout. There is lots of cool there but the combination just doesn't work for me.

I think Tong's Forbidden Planet is a huge letdown after they showed these works in progress a few months back. Hope they get a release someday, especially the one on the left.

Re: Mondo/Alamo Drafthouse Screen Printed Movie Posters

Okay... that's an expensive store.

I ended up with Brazil (regular), Duck Dodgers, Trip to the Moon, and... yes... Khan. Fuck. Its one of those prints where the metallic inks in the variant made it look oh so nice. I knew if I didn't buy it then I'd kick myself.

They had everything in stock minus the Moss print... which sold out instantaneously and lots of the originals.

They also still had free beer! yaaay!
