What movie's have you seen lately for the first time?

I thought it might be kind of interesting to start a post about what movies, new or old, that people have seen for the first time lately.

I just watched "LadyHawke" with Matthew Broderick. It's a pretty good movie. I like these kind of movies too usually and i can't believe i have never seen this one.

Just watched "The Adventures of Robin Hood" the other night. Fantastic, and beautiful on BD.

The Burbs. I was really impressed how strongly Joe Dante's direction stood up in the first 30 minutes, but then I started nodding off around the halfway point.

Got the Paramount/Olive dvd of Dark City with Charlton Heston for Christmas. One of the best film noirs I'd never seen. Heston, Jack Webb and Ed Begley are gamblers who sucker this guy into a crooked poker game...

Spoiler:
they convince him to sign over a $5000 check that isn't his money. He hangs himself in his hotel room. The guys psycho brother hunts down Heston and the others, one by one, hanging them.

EXACT same thing happened to me not to long ago, watching it the 1st time on Netflix Instant. The best movie I saw for the first time was "Midnight Run" Great, fun film thanks to the really great chemistry and banter between De Niro and Grodin.

My 12yo son and I watched the extended edition of "The Fellowship of the Ring" last night. It was the first time that he has seen it (3rd or 4th time for me).

He was 3 when it came out.

He thought it was awesome!

Tomorrow we tackle "The Two Towers."

Just watched John Wayne's True Grit the other night on TMC. It wasn't half bad which is saying a lot considering I don't care for John Wayne movies too much. I just wanted to compare it to the new coen brothers version.

And to answer the OP's question: I finally saw "The Man Who Knew Too Much" (50s remake) a few weeks ago. Not a top tier Hitchcock, but basically entertaining.

Titanic. I'm probably the last person on the earth who hasn't already seen this. It was ok, but I still didn't see what the big deal was.

I watched Powell & Pressburger's A Matter Of Life And Death (released in the U.S. as Stairway to Heaven.) Cool technicolor movie with clever practical effects, very reminiscent of Cocteau's work.

Re: What movie's have you seen lately for the first time?

Nothing special but I just saw First Born last week; it's a movie about Teri Garr dating a prick-version of Peter Weller and it had Corey Haim as the youngest song. Cheesy but also very realistic in the "deadbeat boyfriend" depiction. Features pre-fame Downey Jr and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Resident Evil: After Life

New movie on DVD, but it is the first time I have seen it.

Just OK, thought it would be better.

Re: What movie's have you seen lately for the first time?

I watched Miracle Mile the other day because someone recommended it and the plot sounded interesting (guy receives anonymous phone call saying nukes are gonna hit in 1 hour) and it starred Anthony Edwards. God, I hated this movie! Every single thing the characters did was just SO stupid--I was rooting for them all to die horrible deaths.

On a more positive note, I watched Ip Man recently and it was kick-ass.

LOL, 80's apocalyptic/romance flick staring Gilbert? I have to see this now!

Another movie I just saw recently, The Last Of The Finest with Brian Dennehy; easily the best TV Movie that just happened to be a Theatrical Release. Total good cop/bad cop cheese.

Old movies I've recently crossed off my list are Forbidden Planet, Miracle on 34th Street (1947), and The Evil Dead.
