Actress Jadin Gould to Portray Young Lana Lang in "Man of Steel"

Zack Snyder's Man of Steel has added another famous character from the Superman mythos to the production, albeit in a younger form than fans might have been expecting. Superman Super Site confirms today that 13-year-old Jadin Gould will play a young Lana Lang in a flashback scene to Clark Kent's Smallville childhood.
First appearing in 1950's Superboy #50, Lana is the teenage girlfriend of young Clark. She was a central character in the television series, "Smallville" (played by Kristin Kreuk) and has also appeared as a teenager on the big screen in 1978's Superman: The Movie (played by Diane Sherry) and later as an adult, re-entering Clark's life in Superman III (Played by Annette O'Toole, who would later play Martha Kent on "Smallville").
At her young age, Gould already boasts an impressive resume, having appeared on television shows like "Chuck", "Rizzoli & Isles", "The Mentalist" and on the big screen in Battle Los Angeles.
Now filming, Man of Steel's cast also includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix and Laurence Fishburne. It is targeting a June 14, 2013 release.

New Pic of Henry Cavill as Superman
DCU Movie Page tweeted a new pic of Henry Cavill in his Superman costume from the upcoming reboot Man of Steel. In the pic, which you can see below, Cavill is posing with a young fan. I bet it was a thrill for the little dude to get a pic with Superman!
What do you think of the images coming from Man of Steel so far? I’m not crazy about the costume design, but its hard to judge until we get a trailer and can see it in action.
Man of Steel comes to theatres June 14, 2013. Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) is directing from a script by David S Goyer. In addition to Cavill as Supes, the film also stars Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Lawrence Fishburne and Christpher Meloni.
What do you think? Do you trust in Snyder? Does Christpher Nolan more or less handpicking him raise your level of confidence? I’m sure with Snyder we’ll get a much more action oriented movie than we did with Superman Returns.

I sincerely hope the dialogue in the spoilered synopsis above is the writer paraphrasing and not verbatim. Because there's some really cheesy lines if that's what's actually said (although I guess I'll reserve judgment until I hear the actors' delivery).

Superman: The Man of Steel (2013): Teaser Trailer Attached To The Dark Knight Rises
With filming on the new Superman movie, the Man of Steel, now complete, fans are eagerly anticipating Zack Snyder's first trailer for the movie.
Previously we've heard that Warner Bros. is to begin its big marketing push starting in June, a year before the movie premiers, with it rumored that the trailer would be debuting then.
And just yesterday saw a rumored description for the trailer; however, I'm told that is a fake.
What I am told is that there will be some sort of trailer for the Man of Steel attached to opening of The Dark Knight Rises on July 20th, that the trailer will be about one minute in length and not contain much CGI. It will simply be a teaser.
I was further told they won't start putting the "TEASER" together until around April/May time.

It's going to be weird seeing a trailer for a movie that's a year and a half from coming out.

It's getting released in June of 2013, so a teaser before Batman is only a year out. That's pretty standard for big blockbusters.

Thank god the trailer description is (supposedly) fake. There was a lot of weird and (seemingly) lame stuff in there.

Robert Downey Jr almost played Lex Luthor in McG's 'Superman'

Robert Downey Jr was set to play Lex Luthor in McG's cancelled Superman project, according to the filmmaker.
The This Means War helmer told The Playlist that he had secured the Iron Man star's services ahead of his return to Hollywood.
"We had Robert Downey Jr locked up to be Lex Luthor, which I think would have been extraordinary," he said.
McG's Superman was to be subtitled Flyby, based on a screenplay by JJ Abrams. Scarlett Johansson was the favourite to portray Lois Lane and Shia LaBeouf in the frame for Jimmy Olsen.
Man of Steel star Henry Cavill was among the actors screen-tested for the lead role.
Flyby was dropped due to the director's reluctance to travel to Warner Bros' desired filming location of Sydney, Australia due to his fear of flying.
"JJ wrote the script, and we got that to a really good place in the end," he said. "But I'm to blame for [the film not happening]," he added.
Superman will return to cinemas in Man of Steel, opening in cinemas on June 2013.

Ultimately, McG was very sad about not being able to make his Superman – subtitled Flyby – probably because his cinematic track record since has been less than amazing, both critically and financially. He said:
“I’m heartbroken that I never made my ‘Superman,’ but it was my own ****-up because I was afraid of flying and couldn’t get down to Australia. I got properly thrown off that picture, sacked for being a mental case! You live and learn, you keep on truckin’.”
It’s actually very interesting how similar Man of Steel has become to Flyby, at least on the surface. Aside from sharing Henry Cavill as the Man of Tomorrow, both Zack Snyder and McG make similar films and have similarly troubled track records, both films utilized a brief-less supersuit, and both films were intended to be massive action blockbusters unlike any Superman to come before.
Of course, Flyby also featured a living supersuit – a la Venom – that gave Kal-El his flying powers, a Lex Luthor (to be played by Robert Downey Jr.) who was not only a CIA Agent, but also secretly Kryptonian (twist ending!), and a magical Kryptonian heaven that Superman visits after he temporarily dies. Needless to say, McG is just about the only person who is heartbroken about it not being made.

This needed it's own post
Bryan Singer’s Unused Superman Movie Doomsday Design
Newly unveiled concept art for Bryan Singer’s ‘Superman Returns’ and potential sequels reveal what may have been the design for a live-action Doomsday.
Bryan Singer didn’t get a second chance at making another Superman movie after Superman Returns failed to re-launch the franchise for Warner Bros. and DC, but he did have plenty of ideas that went unused. One of these ideas may have been for the villain Doomsday, arguably the most dangerous of Superman’s foes, to appear in Superman Returns or its never-meant-to-be sequel.
Fortunately for us moviegoers and fans, some of those ideas at least made their way to paper as conceptual art and special effects artist Steve Johnson was kind enough to share some of his own art that he dubbed as “Bryan Singer Superman Concepts.”
The artwork depicts several different designs for Kal-El’s earthly superhero costume and the most interesting of all, a few sketches of what Johnson confirmed is what may have become a live-action version of Doomsday. Two of the images are labelled as “Flyby,” referring to the film Superman: Flyby which never made it out of early development. It was based on a J.J. Abrams script where Krypton still exists and Lex Luthor is a UFO-crazed government agent. Brett Ratner was supposed to direct for a 2004 release.
Take a look at Johnson’s artwork below to see what might have been:
