Please, not Kristen Stewart. Try Rachel McAdams , like they should have with the 2006 movie. Of course having James Marsden as her husband might have proven distracting.

Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike Are Contenders For ‘Superman’ Role…But It’s Not Lois Lane
Warner Bros. is narrowing the search for a female lead to star opposite Henry Cavill in Zack Snyder‘s upcoming Superman, and three names have emerged, all of which moot previous shortlist stories. Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike are said to be the top choices. But there’s a new wrinkle: the role the studio is looking to cast is not Lois Lane.
Variety has the report, and says that the studio doesn’t want someone who might overshadow Henry Cavill. In other words, someone well-established (like the previously rumored Rachel McAdams) isn’t going to get the job.
With big roles in the National Treasure movies and Inglourious Basterds, you’d think that Diane Kruger would also be out, but evidently she makes the cut. Alice Eve flirted with superhero roles when she was in contention for gigs in X-Men: First Class and Captain America. And Rosamund Pike kicked off her film career in a big way with a role as a Bond girl in Die Another Day (a relatively good Bond girl, too ) but then went towards more indie fare. She did a great job in An Education, for instance.
If WB and Zack Snyder are really going the ‘icy blonde’ route, I’ve just got three words: Rosamund Pike, please. But my gut says the choice will be Alice Eve.
And if this isn’t Lois Lane, who is it? Lana Lang is the name that leaps to mind — she being something like Superman’s Gwen Stacy — but it could be someone else, I suppose.Variety doesn’t explicitly say that Lois Lane is not in the film, but does say that this role being cast is the female lead.
A villain role will be cast soon, too, but we don’t have a list of possible actors there, nor a name for the character.

So, are we basically going to get a "Birthright"-ish Superman movie (basically how Clark Kent goes walkabout, and out of his adventures in foreign lands, decides to come back and becomes Superman).

I will say those 3 choices seem more in line with a Cavill casting of Superman. All the other names thrown around seem more flavor of the week that the media pumps out at the hint of a new big female role based on nothing but popularity.
I think some would say she's too young to play the role, but I think Emma Stone has all the necessary aspects to play Lois Lane. Yes I know she's playing Gwen Stacey, but that should be finished filming in time.

The rumor still has life:

Still waiting on the casting for Brainiac if the basic story is true, though...

I wish they cast a redhead if they're going to be using Lana Lang as a character. (Yeah, it bugged me a little bit when casted a brunette for Lana in Smallville, too.)

I really can't see it being Cat Grant, it'll just be another female character, probably another journalist assign to cover stories in foreign lands who Clark gets paired with by happenstance as he bops around the world doing covert acts of goodness while keeping his presence a secret from the world until he finally can't keep his powers a secret and must announce his presence to the world. (just a guess, but I'm sort of settling into such expectations).

She looks like a prepubescent boy. So, yeah, she's unattractive.
Hair color was the least of the problems with Lana in Smallville.

I don't know why some think it's shocking when DVDTalkers call out actresses for being unattractive... yes quite a few of them are... not all actresses are pretty and there are plenty of prettier girls out there that don't chose to go into acting/modeling.
