PWSA is a great director of terrible movies -- his movies may suck but face it, you enjoy them.

Looks like a hell of a lot of fun. I'm in.

You may be onto something. I know, for instance, that Resident Evil: Afterlife is just plain ridiculous and can never be called "good". But it's so much fun. I also loved the hell out of the videogame porn that is Death Race.

He's made exactly ONE good movie: Event Horizon. In fact, I like it so much I still can't believe he's responsible for it.

I don't like any of his movies. He's not a great director by any stretch. I think Bay is the greatest director of terrible movies.

Bay is in a tier all his own in terms of terrible excellence.

Flamethrowers, airships, Milla sword-fighting in a ballgown, and Ray Stevenson?

FUCK YES. I'm there.

This should be the critic blurb for the BD release.

Seems Milla won't actually be a villain in this:

I agree. That's my favorite film of all time.

I will go see this one, though, as it's a decent cast.

Speaking of Richard Lester's The Three Musketeers, is it available on BD? If not, are there any plans for its release?

I've yet to see Lester's TTM..out of fear of seeing his other films..I'm cautious to see it. Just not a Lester fan.

I can't believe they found a way to recycle the Resident Evil hallway.

Recycled or not, this looks like tons of fun. Shame they couldn't find a way to fit Colin Salmon into this. Hell, he and Michelle Rodriguez are cpoming back for next Resident Evil movie (as clones, I guess) so it would have been nice to have a period film reunion as well.

This movie has been ravaged by critics and I'm sure it'll bomb, but it was fun. It's exactly what you'd expect from a Paul W.S. Anderson movie.

re: The Three Musketeers 3-D -- Paul W.S. Anderson

It's a shit sandwich, but at least a well made one. My favorite bit was actually the beginning : introducing the Musketeers and Milla in an elaborate and absurd heist that looked great and was very exciting. Downhill from there with Orlando Bloom totally chewing the scenery at the same time that Weitz underplays his part with sublety. It's a weird contrast. The movie gets dumber and dumber as it goes along, but at least it's dumb fun. It's far too competent a film to be hidden from critics the way it was -- they tend to really savage you for that and this particular film isn't nearly terrible enough for that sort of ignominy. It has some fun set pieces in it, especially the opening and one other Milla heist bit.
It also has the most absurd end-of-film tag I've ever seen. Let's just say Paul W.S. Is pretty much expecting a sequel.

BTW : I saw this in a theater in Thousand Oaks CA with a friend and our wives in this new thing they have : it's an Adults-Only balcony with huge chairs, alcohol service and a full lunch menu. I might not have loved the film, but I did love the presentation (even if it's a little weird to get used to looking down at the big screen). Moral of the story : Paul WS Anderson films are more enjoyable in a huge soft theater chair while drinking a 32 oz Corona.

re: The Three Musketeers 3-D -- Paul W.S. Anderson

I loved it from beginning to end. It's not a shit sandwich at all. The production design was fantastic, the performances were good (especially Waltz who was appropriately subtle as Cardinal Richelieu), and the action sequences were tons of fun.

I was actually taken aback by how a movie that took so many liberties with the book actually managed to stay true to the key elements of the conspiracy (the diamond necklace, the love letters, and how the pardon letter was used) while still striking out on its own path.

Definitely a day one purchase for me and Paul W.S. Anderson's best film since Event Horizon.

I loved the over-the-top tag at the end.
Spoiler:
It bothered me at first that he could have built all those warships in one year until I realize all it really takes is to modify an existing fleet.
I actually hope there is a sequel.

And I loved Paul Haslinger's score:

re: The Three Musketeers 3-D -- Paul W.S. Anderson

Just caught this today. I actually really liked it. Sure it was implausible but it was fun as Hell and the action scenes were great. Best group of Musketeers I've seen. My favorite group was The Man in the Iron Mask group but I actually liked this group better. The Percy Jakson kid was fine. At least he didn't blow it i've always liked the Musketeers more than D'Artagnan anyway. I'm becoming a big fan of Luke Evans who played Aramis. I liked him as Zeus in Immortals and I see he's going to play Bard in The Hobbit. I think he'll be GREAT as Bard. Waltz was very understated but I thought he was good. He's good in everything. I even liked Bloom. Over the top bad guys are always fun.

Oh and the most important part...Milla looked absolutely stunning. I have such a hard on for that woman.

Anyway, I'd love to see a sequel.
