Filming for Paul W.S. Anderson's The Three Musketeers has been taking place at the Würzburg Residenz in Würzburg, Germany and we've got photos from the shoot that you can view below.

Scheduled for an October 14, 2011 release, the action adventure stars Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans, Milla Jovovich, Mads Mikkelsen, James Corden and Orlando Bloom.

The film is a re-imagination of the Alexandre Dumas classic, shot entirely in 3D, in which the hot-headed young D'Artagnan joins forces with three veteran Musketeers to prevent the villainous Cardinal Richelieu from seizing the French throne and engulfing Europe in war.

EDIT: I don't know if these pics are too big. I can add spoiler tags if necessary.
EDIT2: The pics aren't showing up for me.

I don't get why it even needs to be in 3D but with Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans, Milla Jovovich, Mads Mikkelsen, James Corden and Orlando Bloom in the cast, my ass will be in the hteater for this. Also, I like the casting of Stevenson as Porthos. In the books he was always a big strong guy
Spoiler:
who was sadly crushed to death during the events of the third part of The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later, itself titled "The Man in the Iron Mask."

That said, there goes another dream project of mine. For the best, I suppose. I envisioned it as 5 movies and completely in French.

Hot damn. Christoph Waltz, Mads Mikkelsen AND Ray Stevenson?! SHIIIIIT. I'm there. Is there a chance for Jovovich to go nude for us..considering she loves doing so on her husbands' films?

I dunno how but this is the 1st I've heard of it. WTF? It's rather random for an Anderson film...

Anderson is a guilty pleasure, but I hope he gets off this 3D kick.

Waltz, Mikkelson and Stevenson = Epic win.

Anderson, Bloom = Epic fail.

I'll wait for a trailer.

It's a shot-for-shot remake.

I demand that of all her movies. Fortunately, she usually obliges.

I like that version. :p Anyhoo, they're apparently going for an "updated" Sherlock Holmes vibe. The casting of Stevenson tells me the main trio may be truer to their book counterparts than the Disney version, however. Porthos was naive and loyal brute rather than egomaniac and a blowhard (although I actually enjoyed Platt's interpretation of the character).

Yes, that's Ray Stevenson as Porthos. The other two are Matthew Macfadyen as Athos and Luke Evans as Aramis.

And "the girl" is Logan Lerman as D'Artagnan.

d'Artagnan, the young kid, is the protagonist of the d'Artagnan Romances (The Three Musketeers, Twenty Years After, and The Vicomte de Bragelonne: Ten Years Later). In the first noviel, the basis of this movie, a poor young boy named d'Artagnan travels to Paris to join the Musketeers. Through a series of misadventures he's challenged to a duel against three musketeers (Athos, Porthos, and Aramis). The duel never really happens because they're attacked by guards of Cardinal Richelieu and they're forced to team up. d'Artagnan falls for a young woman named Constance and helps protect Queen Anne and the Duke of Buckingham from a scheme by Cardinal Richelieu to expose their affair to King Louis XIII. At the end of the first book, d'Artagnan impresses Cardinal Richelieu by outmaneuvering him at every turn and the Cardinal offers d'Artagnan a place in the Musketeers. Eventually d'Artagnan reaches the rank of lieutenant and is well known (and admired) among the Musketeers.

Of course the movie will be a bit different. For one, the Duke of Buckingham (Orlando Bloom) is to be the villain and an ally of Cardinal Richelieu (Christoph Waltz).

I hate PWSA, but he sure does know how to make me want to see his movies. We have so many 3 Musketeers movies as it is, I don't mind that we are getting the full blown action version now.

I'm in for this film.

We'll see. I'm not optimistic about this due to the absurd plot change of making the Duke of Buckingham the villain.

However, I'll be there as I'm a sucker for filmed epic sword fights.

AFAIC, Richard Lester's Three Musketeers remains the hallmark by which I judge other versions. Noting else since then has even come close.

It's not the first time he was made the villain. The Disney version did it too.

alright..I'm in. Might be fun. Great visual design..still weirded about w/ how the kid looks but otherwise...one could hope that it's fun. Again...one could hope cuz it's Paul W.S. Anderson...mixed bag of a director if one could name one.
