I think I'll go with Stripes. Ghostbusters would probably come in 2nd.

Re: Bill Murray

i thought he completely and utterly played himself in Lost in Translation. i thought it was Bill Murray being real, warm, funny and the film remains a poignant tribute to who (i think) he is and has become as a person through his life. he should have won for it.

Re: Bill Murray

Ghostbusters is probably his best but Ed Wood needed a vote.

Re: Bill Murray

It's weird; I've never thought of myself as Bill Murray fan, per se, but for the most part I've enjoyed everything I've seen from his filmography. It's good to see some love for Quick Change; I bet I haven't seen that in more than 16 years but can still recall entire segments vividly. Great fun.

Ultimately, I went with Lost in Translation. That story really needed someone who would find the nuances of the character and not come on too strong. The entire film could have been derailed had someone lacking Murray's acting sensibilities been cast as Bob. Is it the most obvious, iconic performance on the list? No. But I think it's the best microcosm for seeing just how astute and clever an actor he really is.

Wow, this is a tough one, so many good movies. I guess I'll go with Stripes.

Ed Wood is my favorite movie on the list... but my favorite Murray performance would go to Stripes.

Re: Bill Murray

Tough call, but I love Ghostbusters more than any of the rest. Runner-ups would go to Caddyshack and What About Bob?

Re: Bill Murray

Gotta go with "Lost In Translation." I wish I was the elder Murray with the younger Scarlett Johansson.

Re: Bill Murray

Not my favorite film, but I think he's at his best in Rushmore. That elevator scene at the hospital kills me.

Re: Bill Murray

1. Ghostbusters- This is his film (ironically it was written for John Belushi). Murray carries the movie and his best line is to Mr. Peck, "It's true, this man has no dick."

2. Stripes- Murray is great in this, but the supporting cast really steal many scenes.

3. Caddyshack- My favorite comedy of all-time, but Murray is the main star, so it ranks lower of the three.

All 3 are in my top 10 of favorite comedies.

Re: Bill Murray

GHOSTBUSTERS and GROUNDHOG DAY both have awesome Murray performances, but I had to show some love for WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM, which probably remains my favorite Murray performance, although I really need to see it again to confirm that. (It's been 30 years!)

I had forgotten he was in ED WOOD. He played the actor who played the older alien in PLAN 9, right?

Re: Bill Murray

His performance in Kingpin makes me laugh just thinking of it.
