Favorite George Clooney Film?

Re: Favorite George Clooney Film?
Good Night, and Good Luck is my favorite Clooney film. Up in the Air is my favorite Clooney performance. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I've seen all but one of the films (Solaris) on the list.
In general, I like him in just about everything he's been in.

Out of Sight
I'm not understanding the love for Michael Clayton. It was alright, bu nothing too special, and calling the "greatest of the decade" is pure hyperbole. Take away the cast and you have an above average made-for-TV movie.

Favorite movie with Clooney in it: Burn After Reading
Favorite film with Clooney's best performance: Michael Clayton.
Michael Clayton is the whole package; of course if you take away a good cast from any film you will have a drop-off in quality but it take a good to great director to get quality performances out of actors, even the great ones. If a director is just going through the motions, they won't try to create the best take. I really like the imagery, James Howard Newton's score, and the non-linear start to the film, all top-notch.
Compare that to a film like Righteous Kill where De Niro and Pacino are just sleep-walking through the film even though Avnet should have known better from his earlier failure with Pacino in 88 Minutes.

I must admit that I haven't seen a whole lot of Clooney films, but out of the ones that I have seen i'd have to pick Leatherheads. A quirky old fashioned football comedy. Besides after I bought the movie I lent it to my mother and she loved it so much that she said she watched it 3 times in one week.

Nobody called it the "greatest of the decade". I only said the script was one of them. I totally get why people don't like it or find it dull, its just completely missing the point of a completely original take on a neo-noir filtered through modern corporate esthetics. Its a fascinating characters study that for the first time uses Clooney in his proper potential oustide of the same cornball-smug role that every other person here sites as their favortie work of his.

'Michael Clayton'... as a whole in its entirety, is a nearly perfect film. Brilliance comes together from every part of the film making process in that movie to make an amazing film.
I'm not one for the whole 'best' thing, but it's one of the best films of the last ten years, on a very short list of them, and it's an American classic that stands up with great films from any time period.
It's like a throwback to the 70's, in that window of excellent film making, only it's better than a lot of those films that are remembered as masterpieces today.

Out of Sight.
Say what you want about Clooney, but after he made Batman and Robin he took control of his career. I may not like all of his movies since, but I understand the artistic decision making behind why he made them. I respect Clooney for that and because of that I'll see anything he's in b/c I know it will be interesting, whether it's successful or not.

I think you may fail to realize that it's poll for favorite film, not his best film.

Difference, to me, was that those '70s movies weren't boring like Clayton was. When it was over, I'm like "okay, so what?"

My favorite is still Out of Sight, because I think it's the epitome of Clooney's "coolness". From Dusk Till Dawn represented the closest we've ever seen him to playing a villain.

Think I'm going to have to go with Up in the Air. Its one of my favorite movies in a while and I can re-watch it a lot without getting tired of it. I also liked From Dusk til Dawn and the Ocean's movies are fun too (especially the first, but the sequels are okay).

Totally disagree. Your definition of "star vehicle" is "movie designed to play off a crappy actor's inability to show any depth or range whatsoever'. See Rob Schneider, Pauly Shore, etc.

What, no one's mentioned Batman and Robin? (kidding)
Personally not a big fan of the guy, but Michael Clayton was freakin' amazing. Maybe George should do more films with Tom Wilkinson, heh.
