Sixth Sense vs The Ring(2002 Remake)

Which film did you enjoy more? I've seen the 6th Sense before and kind of enjoyed it but I just finished watching The Ring('02 version) for the first time and thought it nothing short of superb! One of the best horror movies of the decade.

It's a tie for me. The Sixth Sense was a dreadful bore as was The Ring.

Re: Sixth Sense vs The Ring(2002 Remake)

I always had a soft spot for The Ring, despite it being pretty poorly written (though very nicely shot and atomspheric), never cared for T6S. Then again, I'm one of the few that saw the original Ring first and preferred the remake

The Ring had its moments but 6th Sense was fantastic.

I'll give you that. The remake was far better than the original.

Still crap, though.

Re: Sixth Sense vs The Ring(2002 Remake)

I'm not one of those guys who thinks M. Night's career has gone down the shitter, because I think it's always been there. I remember watching T6S in the theater, and halfway through I thought, "Crap, this is going to be one of those cliched stories where it turns out the main character died on page two."

The Ring, on the other hand, was fucking scary.

Re: Sixth Sense vs The Ring(2002 Remake)

The Ring, being suitably creepy throughout, has re-watch value for me after having watched it previously. The Sixth Sense, once you know how it ends, like The Others, loses re-watch value, IMHO, because the surprise ending isn't a surprise anymore. 1 vote for The Ring. -kd5-

The Ring is a better movie and was a better moviegoing experience for me. Because just when you thought it was over...is when the actual fun starts.

Except it really wasn't a cliché yet back then.

The Ring. If Naomi Watts was in The Sixth Sense, then I'd vote for The Sixth Sense.

Sixth Sense. Just found it more interesting than the Ring.

The Ring holds more repeat value for me than Sixth Sense.

Re: Sixth Sense vs The Ring(2002 Remake)

The Ring is one of, if not the, favorite horror movie. The Sixth Sense was good but lacks replay value (I don't even own it).

Ringu was awfully boring.

Oh yes, it was. Weird Tales was publishing stories with that ending all the way back in the 1930s, and I doubt it was orignal then.

Pretty much sums up my feelings as well.

Re: Sixth Sense vs The Ring(2002 Remake)

The Ring, easily. It marks one of only a handful of times where a remake has seen the merit of the source material, then finds a way to improve upon it in every way. Recently watched it within the past few months, and it holds up exceedingly well in every category it excels in -- atmosphere, visual inventiveness, and performance-wise.

Re: Sixth Sense vs The Ring(2002 Remake)

The Ring. Osmet annoys me, but it's also been a while since I last watched 6th Sense.

Still, I think that Ringu is a far better film than either of these.

Re: Sixth Sense vs The Ring(2002 Remake)

Scariest moment between both films, the cut to the body being found in the closet. The Ring gets my vote.

I picked The Ring.

Ringu is far superior though.

Very tight poll.
