Well, now you know at least 2 people who have seen all six and I've looked forward to a new SAW movie every Halloween.

How would you guys say this film stacks up with the other entries in the series?

once I had heard that



considering this was shot with 3D HD cameras, the cinematography for the movie made VII the only movie of the entire series to not appear highly grainy. I thought the 3D effects were great, the lossless sound notably during the car explosion was insanely loud. I thought some of the fake blood looked a tad too pink, notably during the stomach intestine slicing. I thought for the most part the MPAA was asleep for the screening/rating of this movie, very very gory, except for the eye/mouth goughing that appeared to be truncated.

Did anyone else's theatre have it on the board and tickets as SAW: THE FINAL CHAPTER instead of SAW 3D? Wonder if that is the name for it on home video when it hits...

My ticket and the digital signs said "SAW VII 3D."

Not really a fan either, but if I can find it bargain priced later on I'll probably buy it. And that's the thing, movies like this are the McDonalds Food of Cinema.
No-one expects their next Big Mac to be any better than the first, but you know what you're going to get.

I feel the opposite; unlike other horror movies, this series has managed to keep up an intriguing story line through 7 movies without getting campy. While plenty of people will just go for the traps, and others to see gore, I think there's a lot of interesting characters and plot twists to have kept the series unique beyond the initial sequels.

Compared to Halloween and Friday the 13th, and even Nightmare on Elm Street, Saw has been a quite consistent in trying to deliver an intriguing movie and blows any other large Horror franchise out of the water in the continuity department.

And this, I think this is the conundrum of Saw 3D. The filmmakers wrote themselves into a corner by continually developing the mythology of Jigsaw using backstory. Since the character is dead, at some point they run out of backstory, and then what? How can a movie that has nowhere to go have an intriguing development at the end of it? Saw 3D has no real twists to offer, because it's a conclusion.

One other nitpick: I thought the new cop guy, the one with the slight cowboy accent, was terrible. A moment I thought would inspire laughter (I was surprised it didn't) was the part where he yells at Jill that she's in a safehouse, walks into the other room, and his secretary tells him the safehouse is compromised. "GOD DAMN IT!" It reminds me of the Derrick Comedy parodies of 24:

The 2D version is apparently called Saw: The Final Chapter.

Much better title anyways. Hopefully the 2D blu-ray version is called that. And hopefully they do a mega set w/ all movies and both versions of each film. Doubt it but just hoping.

I hope they do, especially for Blu-ray. The first three are in dire need of a re-release.

I'd personally just take remasters and in the case of I - III, make them deluxe editions with ALL of the extras from both the theatrical/unrated and director's cut DVDs. I'd also prefer a full-length documentary chronicling the entire franchise, but that's more of a want than a need.

I'm most interested in all of the deleted scenes and alternate endings. Hell, there was an entire trap sequence cut out of IV. Bring on that stuff.

Just got back from seeing it this afternoon. I enjoyed it. Thought it was a good end to the series.

Was really surprised to see how this filmed tied up some loose ends from Saw I. Honestly, the 3D didn't really do much for me. There were a couple of scenes where it worked well, but I thought the last 1/3 of the movie the effects didn't really stand out.

Chad Donella, who played Gibson, was IMO probably the worst actor to play a lead investigator/detective in the series. The actor brought no personality or charisma to the character. I thought he was terrible in all his scenes. I know they normally don't spend alot of money in the series, but there are so many talented actors they could have got to play Gibson. They should have gone a little bigger and hired someone more well known like Donnie Wahlberg in the previous films.

As for Jill Tuck:



I enjoyed the B story with Bobby Dagen more than I enjoyed the A story with Hoffman/Jill/Gibson.

Lots of gorgeous women in this installment. Hell, Bobby's lawyer, publicist, and wife were smoking. I recognized Gina Holden, who played Bobby's wife, from her guest stint on Life Unexpected recently.

I thought VI and 3D were probably Melton and Dunstan's best work as writers for the series. If your a fan of the series, I definitely think you should watch this and finish it up.

I loved the opening and but was pretty bored by the rest of the film. Horrible waste of 3D. The ending wasn't very satisfying either. I didn't buy into

This made me remember my ticket stub for Blade II as Blade 2: Bloodhunt which was the film's original title but was changed well before it hit theaters. I always thought it was strange it was still programmed in the computers back then to print them out but I don't know how any of that's done in terms of updating from the studios and whatnot.

It's Saw 3D. Saw VII ended up being a working title and the subtitle "The Final Chapter" is for 2D theaters and the eventual home video release.

Given, ad campaign to the contrary, I'm sure there'll probably be a Saw VIII down the road, I wonder what they'll call it. The Final-er Chapter?

Saw it Saturday. The movie itself was just OK, but the ending made up for it. It was strange seeing such a brightly lit Saw film, but I assume that was for the 3D
