7. Beepy Computers

That's the worst. Man I hate it. Along with the flashy and incredibly user-nonfriendly interface and/or OS. It so stupid and it really affected my enjoyment of 24 in the later seasons. Unfortunately it's a problem in pretty much every single show and movie (except Millenium, The X-Files and The Wire - they even use a mouse(!) in those)

Eh, I give this a pass because it's done for comedic effect. Different rules for comedy.

When Nedry slips and falls in Jurassic Park, that cartoonish sound they used almost took me out of the whole movie

You do not know the power of the slide whistle.

I remember watching that as a child and not being completely sure if that was a genuine slide whistle noise. Once I got it on VHS, I was pretty confident it was, and it nearly ruined the entire movie for me.

Those gunshot sounds in eighties action movies especially Die Hard 2. Every pistol(McClane's cop-issued Baretta and the bad guy's Glock) sounds exactly the same and every machine gun, whether its a M-16 or a MP5 all sound identical.

The worst for me (true of both TV and movies):

A person is on the phone and whomever is on the other end hangs up. You almost always hear the dial tone in movies/TV, but in real life, you wouldn't hear anything. You don't get the dial tone until the disconnection takes place on YOUR end.

Good catch.

I hate the sound effects for 'karate' fight scenes.

You mean like....the jumping in the air sound from the 70s flicks? that fabric twirling in air sound..I love it. Inaccurate...sure. But..it's the genre. Or the snapping sound when people get hit? I love that too...

Yeah, those "air" sounds. I don't really mean "hate", just thinking more in the context of thinking that they sound wildly inaccurate.

Re: The 7 Most Inaccurate Movie Sound Effects

i really hate the falling down sound effect in old Warner movies. Watch The Wild Bunch, cold Hand Luke and Enter The Dragon for examples (shit they use the same sound effect in the cartoons)

Re: The 7 Most Inaccurate Movie Sound Effects

Was that sound effect really used for the Rollerball clip? I watched the DVD back in the day and don't remember a cartoon Foley being used.

The Jurassic Park slide whistle is legit though.

Off topic......it drives me crazy because no one ever says goodbye after a phone conversation on TV or in the movies. They just hang up.

I remember being annoyed that they still used those sounds in the mid to late 80's, when the NES and that generation of systems were well into place.

The only movie I can think of that used the correct sound for an eagle is Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
