Yea. It's not like Tom Cruise's obviously dead son magically reappeared for a father/son reunion at the end of the movie. THAT would have been cringeworthy.

I haven't read the whole thread but did anyone mention the choice of Wake up/Bump Music and the connection to Marion Cotillard who played "Mal"?
Forgive me if it's been mentioned already.

Hans Zimmer and Johnny Marr talk about the sad romance of 'Inception'
Nolan's script, Zimmer said, offered clues as to how the musicians should dig beneath the surface of the characters. The charged symphonic brass of Piaf's "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien" was targeted for use by Nolan yet almost dropped from the film when Marion Cotillard, who starred as Piaf in 2007 film "La Vie en rose," was cast as Cobb's wife, Mal. Zimmer, however, said he talked Nolan into keeping the song in the film, arguing that audiences would not be distracted by the connection. Pieces of Piaf's interpretation of the song were stretched, manipulated and woven into Zimmer's score.

Coming up onto $500m worldwide, which it should cross this coming weekend easily. Half of The Dark Knight's take for this kind of movie is pretty impressive.

Even the most close-minded female movie-goer will enjoy this. At the very least, there is an underlying romance between Dom and his lost wife, as well as Dom only wanting to be with his children. Plus, as a straight man, DiCaprio, Gordon-Levitt, and Tom Hardy are handsome dudes, I suppose.
But yeah, its a good movie, so that probably helps.

The Dark Knight never happened. It was all a dream while Bruce Wayne was unconscious at the bottom of the well.

Heavens yes! The eye candy in this movie is the icing on the cake and the cherry on top is the was excellent costuming. There's nothing like seeing guys in ties and vests kicking butt...sigh.
And Cilian Murphy isn't too hard on the eyes either.

so, for those of you who brought their wife, girlfriend, female friend, etc, what was the general consensus on how they dug it? my cousin thinks its a good idea for us to see this with our wives. Personally, I think it's a huge mistake... while both have a head on their shoulders, neither wife is into sci-fi, time travel, alternate realty type shit, and I'm 100% convinced they will leave this long movie pissed off and confused beyond belief.

Women are incapable of understanding such nebulous concepts as aliens, time travel, and alternate realities. They are also vaguely reptilian creatures who secrete a viscous ammonia-like substance instead of breathing like regular humans do. They frighten me so.

Yeah all we got was Ellen Page who's just a c-hair away from being a 13yo boy both in mannerisms and in body type.
Well now that I think about it, she did look good in her suit with her hair up.

We also had Marion Cotillard, who is fairly hot and has amazingly beautiful ... eyes.

I saw that a while ago. I get what they were going for but it was painfully unfunny. It felt like a lousy SNL skit.
