DVD Talk God
Re: Hostel 3
I rented this a week ago at my local Mom and Pop store and I found it moderarely entertaining.
The issue I had with this one was the Las Vegas setting. It just didn't have the sinister aspect that the 1st 2 had being set in some seedy parts of Eastern Europe.
Also, some of the kills were pretty tame compared to the 1st 2 movies. It was definitely missing Eli Roth's influence in the writing department.
Although:
If the the DVD drops below $10, I'll eventually get it to complete my collection.

Watched this the other day. It was alright. Nothing really memorable about it.

Re: Hostel 3
I just saw this tonight via a free redbox rental and it was merely OK as a decent time waster and nothing more. It didn't impress me, since it was just 'there' and nothing much stood out to me. The lack of atmosphere that the first two films contain really doesn't help the film at all, and it's easily the tamest of the films, despite the first two films not being 'that' over the top gory either. But those two films featured effective use of violence in various scenes while this one was pretty bland overall. And the redbox version is the R rated version and runs 87 minutes and 34 seconds according to the dvd player(what does the unrated version clock in at?). But I doubt much was missing, since the first two films had barely noticeable additions on the unrated dvds from the R rated versions in theater. The very end of the film I did find pretty cool however, but otherwise it's fairly mediocre and just something to watch if on TV and nothing else is on.
I still think the first film is the best and that one really impressed me, while the sequels are of course following the law of diminishing returns. Though I may have a new found respect for part 2 after viewing this film, since even though part 2 didn't blow me away, it was still a really well made film from a technical perspective and had it's moments.
