News you've all been waiting for with bated breath.


It's been a long time coming, but HOSTEL 3 is reportedly ready to go. According to Bloody Disgusting, Sony Stage 6 (which has produced low-budget sequels to popular movies before; VACANCY 2 and THE GRUDGE 3 for example) has set Scott Spiegel to direct and Michael Weiss to pen the sequel, which will apparently head to Vegas where a bachelor party goes horribly wrong. No further details are given. (Maybe it's sort of a "Hey, instead of a strip club let's go mutilate someone" scenario.)

Spiegel is familiar with the world of HOSTEL, having produced the first and second films; he's also a long-time Sam Raimi friend/collaborator, appearing in many of the director's flicks. Weiss wrote THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT 2 and THE JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH 3D, as well as several low-budget monster movies.


Production will begin in August; Eli Roth will produce.

oh god, I was kind of hoping that Eli Roth would do a set of three. I LOVE the Hostel movies.

Scott Spiegel, though having involvement with the first two, directed From Dusk Till Dawn 2, an absolute shitfest.

but, Intruder is still sweet, for what it is, so... hmmm.


Undecided opinion about this project.

1. Win of the Internet decade for spelling bated correctly in this application.
2. Shouldn't the movie be titled H05T3L?

As much as I despise Eli Roth as a person, I'll eventually buy this and enjoy it. So good news I guess!

I wish Roth was more involved, but will probably see this eventually.

Not sure how a Vegas bachelor party fits into the Hostel "universe."

Unless they get so drunk and end up in Europe. I can imagine the Katy Perry song: That's what you get for waking up in a hostel.

The only problem i had with Hostel 2 is that the setup took 2 long before shit started happening. i will prob end up seeing it

That was my problem with the first movie. The second one I actually thought got everything started at a much faster pace.

The third movie sounds like The Hangover meets Hostel.

I'm going to guess:

Guys go to Vegas for a bachelor party, are lured by strippers/hookers to a private party where they are tortured. I'm guess the "new take" will be most of the torturers are women.

I could have sworn Eli Roth said there would not be a Hostel 3.

It's so that they can fit a quote referencing The Hangover on the DVD cover in hopes that it'll spur sales.

Yeah the best part is the feeling of isolation being trapped in a foreign country.

That's pretty lame. Yes, I know it would suck to actually have that happen to you, but from a movie standpoint, wouldn't this be pretty tedious?

I'm not even a fan of these new torture movies, but they should be able to do something a wee bit more creative.

To be fair, they do that to the least interesting friend and most of it is off-screen.

this is available via redbox now if anyone is interested. i watched it last night and it wasn't very good. it did manage to keep my attention though...just don't go in expecting it to be as good as the first 2 (which i liked...i know most people don't).
