Cracked.com - Method Actors
Pretty entertaining read. I myself have no problem with method actors (well, maybe wanna be method actors like Sean Penn).....never knew about the De Niro teeth thing for cape fear and a lot of others:

I would aggressively disagree with their assertion that Man in the Moon is a "forgettable biopic". Also, I remember hearing that Gallo's junk in Brown Bunny was prosthetic, but I'm not sure if that was verified or not.

I don't know where they got that fact about Min-Sik Choi. His character tattoos his arm with a device made from a ballpoint pen, not hot wire. It was true about him eating the live octopus on screen, multiple times.

The live octopus isn't THAT big of a deal. In many Asian countries that's farily common.

It was brutal for me to watch and I'd bet most Americans would feel the same way...Europeans too I'd wager, but I'd also wager that most Asians wouldn't flinch at it because it's at least somewhat common in that part of the world.

For the record, I hate Andy Kaufman and his shtick, but I think a more abstract approach--a la the Bob Dylan biopic I'm Not There--would have made for a better film.

Just googled it and here's an article that talks a bit about it. It even has the clip from Oldboy. It says it's not terribly common but in Korea it's not totally unheard of. There's a different type of live octopus eating that's apprently much more common than what we saw in Oldboy.
