the "JAY AND SILENT BOB" Appreciation Thread

I think Jay and Silent Bob will live forever, long after people actually remember the name of Kevin Smith.

Jay and Silent Bob are immortal characters, a minor pairing that grew into the annals of buddy-history! When you think of "buddy pairs," you think Beavis & Butt-Head; you think Abbott & Costello; you think Laurel & Hardy; you think Alfalfa & Spanky; you think Lemmon & Matthau.

And you think Jay & Silent Bob.

It was smart that Kevin Smith went ahead and did the Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back movie (who would pay to see a "Jay and Silent Bob movie?") because it allowed the medium to stand back and recognize two amazing creations in their natural habitat.

I can't say enough great things about Jay & Silent Bob. I just can't.

Nah - not specific enough. Jay & Silent Bob deserve their own thread, thinks I.

Strongly disagree. Outside of Kevin Smith fans, nobody knows who they are.

You know... you actually don't get a free toaster if you create the most threads. For real.

You are the the very last person that ever gets to gripe at anyone else for creating too many threads.

Is Resident Evil 4 like a typical 3rd person action game?

Is the "Resident Evil" series changed forever?

Why isn't "Resident Evil 4" called anything?

This is just the first example that popped into my head.

I know it isn't held in as much high regard as Smith's other films, but I LOVE J&SB Strike Back. I could probably watch that more than any of his other flicks. The inside jokes, cameos, the complete zaniness of it all? Hook. Line. Sinker.

I know they were basically caricatures of the original characters in Clerks, but that's part of the reason I love it. They went from sad pathetic losers to what Buttmunker said, a comedy team.

I don't know about this. They certainly aren't on the level of buddy teams in the OP, but even if you haven't seen his flicks I would think they are pretty recognizable.

I enjoy them, I'd love more stuff like the animated series, but I readily admit they're not well known by mainstream America.

Yeah, this is the one I like the most. I still haven't watched it, or any other J&SB movie in over 5 years, though. Every time I think to, I end up thinking of something else that sounds better.

I like to think of them as "Bill & Ted" meets "Cheech & Chong".

Agreed. Try it yourself. Go outside of your circle of pot-smoking Millennial-generation friends, say around a local business office, and see just how many 1) Know them by name, 2) Know them by sight, or 3) Consider them to be one of the great comedy teams of all time.
