I was sold on the poster, but with the trailer, even much more so.

Trailer looks better than I would have thought. I hope it's not as boring as Exorcism of Emily Rose, though.

Re: Eli Roth presents: "The Last Exorcism"

Eh, you guys had me going with the trailer-praise. Granted, the movie's premise looks good, but man, isn't there a new way to make a horror trailer? Enough with the:

Blackouts
Slamming-Door sound effects
Brief, blurred video footage
Swelling soundtrack leading up to the film's silent title (Well, I still don't mind that one, actually)

This looks like it is gonna be better than anything Roth has directed, and I really liked Cabin Fever.

Re: Eli Roth presents: "The Last Exorcism"

Saw it the other day. It really surprised me by being not terrible and actually its pretty good. The acting is very good, especially by Patrick Fabian in the lead role. He injects a lot of charisma and even humor into the film. The movie builds tension and atmosphere very well and is almost totally devoid of cheap jump scares. It never goes too far over the top which was what usually plagues these kinda films. The ending isn't that great but I really enjoyed the entire film overall. Recommended.

Wow. Superb advertising. Would be superb-er if they took off the 'lastexorcism.com' line.

But then it wouldn't mention what it was advertising. I dunno if that would be superber.

I do agree though, as is, I think its some of the best internet marketing I've seen in quite a while.

If it didn't have that line, it would actually be viral. People would talk about it, ask what it is, etc. You know that would disturb people to the bone if they saw it. As it is, it's just a commercial.

Meh. It just seems like 'viral marketing' has sort of become a catch all name for these more unconventional marketing types.

Good point. Edited.

Re: Eli Roth presents: "The Last Exorcism"

That's a pretty cool way to advertise your movie on the internet.

My favorite was the black kid getting his wank on, followed by Ralphie from A Christmas Story.

I agree for the most part - Patrick Fabian was excellent and the pace was decent however just when I thought shit was about to get crazy, the movie was over. I also think it is a movie that is mostly made scary by the soundtrack, (Music and sound fx) rather than anything we see on screen. It essentially is Blair Witch meets the Exorcist and I never thought it rose above that. However I thought it was decent enough to be a solid rental or cheap matinee. Eli Roth and the cast was at the screening which definitely boosted my enjoyment of the movie IMO.

Re: Eli Roth presents: "The Last Exorcism"

It looks interesting, but I need another one of these documentary-style horror movies like I need the Blair Witch up my ass.

Re: Eli Roth presents: "The Last Exorcism"

harry knowles has posted his review here (of course it's positive...he's friends with eli roth) but this part i found most interesting:

Before I tell you to leave this write up, I will let you know a few things. Any CG that you see in trailers, chat roulette and on TV Spots… has absolutely zero/zip/nada to do with the film. There is no CG in this movie.

I disagree with Mr. Knowles. There's some, not much, but some CGI in the film.
